Madras High School Spanish 1 Unit 1 Planning Organizer Grades: 9-12 Semester 1, Weeks 1-6 Unit: Introduction to Spanish – Let’s Speak Spanish! Pacing (Unit Length): 6 weeks, ¡Así se dice! Preliminary Lessons; Paso a Paso El Primer Paso Essential Question(s): Big Idea(s): Ask and answer the questions, “How are you?” “What is your name?” “Where are you from?” “How old are you?” and “When is your birthday?” “What day is it?” “What is the date?” Also, learning basic greetings, formalities, and good-byes. To learn these concepts, successful students will learn numbers, days of the week, and months of the year. Students will also learn cultural norms of communication. Standards – From the American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages’ Standards and Proficiency Guidelines. Priority Standards (tested standards) are in bold.
