Merging Contacts using Content Manager This tutorial will explain how to use the Content Manager to combine two contact lists together. Content Manager does not support merging of content pack files (“.UCP” file extension). This means if you have a contact list that is in this format you will be required to open it in Content Manager and resave it as a Phonebook file (“.PBB” file extension). You can do this by double clicking on the “.UCP” content pack file which will automatically open the Content Manager. Once the contact list is visible, navigate to “Contacts” and click “Save phone book as…”. In the example below you will notice that the .pbb file is being saved as “Contact List 1”. This naming scheme will help you differentiate the phonebook files when merging later on. Once the two contact lists are in the correct phonebook “.pbb” format you can now start the merging process. 1. Open Content Manager and navigate to “Contacts” and click “Open phone book...”. A browsing window will appear in which you will select the “Contact List 1.pbb” phonebook file and then click “Open”. 2. When Contact List 1 is viewable in the Content Manager, navigate to “Contacts” and click “Merge phone books”. A browsing window will appear in which you will select the second contact list that will merge with Contact List 1. This second phonebook file is labeled “Contact List 2” in the example below to prevent confusion. 3. Once you have clicked “Open”, Contact List 2 will merge with Contact List 1 and all of the contacts will now be viewable within Content Manager. A quick way to identify that all of the contacts have been added is too check the total number of contacts at the bottom left corner of the screen (circled in red). This number should equal the total amount of contacts between both lists. 4. In order to save this new combined contact list, navigate to “File” and click “Save UME backup…”. A window will appear that will allow you to save a Backup folder for use with the Cellebrite UME36pro. Saving the Backup folder to a USB Flash Drive will enable you to transfer the combined contact list to a phone using the “Restore” function on the UME36pro.
