EDUCATIONAL "SHORTS" COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
SCIENCE DETECTIVES - All new activities!
Challenge your investigative skills as you conduct hands-on science experiments with
light, air, and water. Learn more about the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the
light that warms us. Discover more about the things we use and see every day.
SEA SAFARI
Take an artistic trip into the deep blue ocean to explore some sea creatures. Using a
variety a media, from tempera paint, watercolor, oil pastels and collage you will learn to
create images of a whale, sea turtle, fish, seahorses and more!

ART FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Crafts are the universal language of cultural expression. Come with us on a journey to far
off lands like Java, Morocco, Ghana, and Bali. Listen to music of the nations while creating
original crafts from these exciting places.

ALL ABOUT BUGS
Did you know there are 1,000 different insects in your backyard? They creep, they crawl,
they change color! Discover the role insects play in our natural world as you go on a bug
hunt and create your own fantasy bug.
ART OF THE KINGDOM
Create king and queen watercolor portraits, a golden royal goblet, a jester's hat, and other
medieval masterpieces!

CREATING WITH CLAY
Create ceramic artworks based on demonstrations of hand building techniques that include,
but are not limited to, slab and coil construction, and pinch pots.
DEEP SEA DIVE
Identify and compare different kinds of sea creatures and learn about their habitats,
eating habits, and socialization. The children will use various media to artistically represent
these mysterious creatures of the deep.
THE WORLD IS A STAGE
Discover your creative voice by participating in theater activities which highlight the
components of stage expression including movement, gestures, and sound. Students will
make simple back drops, props, and costumes for their performances.
WEBSITE WIZARDS
Build your own website! You‛ll learn simple layout and design techniques as you create your
own unique website focusing on you, a favorite activity or hobby.
WE DO® ROBOTICS
Learn creative problem solving and teamwork as well as drag-and-drop software
programming, measurements in time and distance, estimations, randomness, and the
transmission of motion. Students are introduced to Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics (STEM) through robotics.

EXPLORING SPANISH, BEGINNER
Learn to speak Spanish in a very comfortable environment using games, songs, and literature.
Beginners will learn greetings, colors, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, family
member vocabulary, animal words, and about cultural differences. Also, the students will
experience some international food and Spanish music.
THE WILD WEATHER
Is the earth getting warmer? How does a tornado form? What causes a thunderstorm?
Explore all kinds of weather conditions as you conduct experiments to simulate global
warming, tornados, thunderstorms, rainbows, and more!
WIMPY KID CARTOONING AND MORE!
Learn about the art of cartooning through author Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid
book series. Simple drawing techniques will be introduced as you create cartoon panels
and storyboards with the Wimpy Kid clan and other cartoon characters as your inspiration!
FILM FANATICS
Do you love movies? Look at films and use them as inspiration to create your own films!
You'll burn your movie creations onto a DVD to take home.
YOUNG CHEFS - All new recipes!
Create a variety of culinary treats as you learn basic cooking skills. You get to eat what
you cook!
FITNESS FRENZY
Test your skills of balance, coordination, flexibility, agility, running, jumping, kicking, and
catching in this fun fitness course.
YOUTH MARTIAL ARTS
Take an educational trip into the world of Martial Arts! Learn techniques from Western
Boxing, Bruce Lee's - Jeet Kune Do, Thailand's Muay Thai Boxing, and the Filipino
Martial Arts. This course is mentally stimulating and physically challenging!

EXPLORING SPANISH, ADVANCED BEGINNER
Continue learning to speak Spanish through games, songs, and literature. More advanced
vocabulary will be introduced as well as further exploration of culture, customs, and
holidays. Advanced beginners will learn common expressions, informal conversation, anatomy,
clothing, and sample international foods.
