Robert M. Burgess selects faculty for the National

Dr. Robert M. Burgess, chairman of the Montana State University Department of
Foreign Languages, faces the task of selecting 52 teachers from 300 applicants
from all over the country to participate in the National Defense Education Act
Summer Language Institute he will direct at MSU.
Applications for the MSU institute closed March 1, Dr. Burgess said, and now
he must narrow the field to 2 6 secondary teachers of French and 2 6 of Spanish for
the institute, which will be in session on the MSU campus from June 19 to Aug. 11.
Applicants that can not be accepted in the MSU institute may still be able tc
enroll in an NDEA summer language institute, Dr. Burgess said.
The U. S. Office of
Education has announced nine institutes in addition to those previously scheduled,
and applications for these nine are still being accepted, he explained.
The institutes still taking applications and the person to whom teachers
should apply are:
