Classify a soft drink(soda) in a glass, with ice, as either a homogeneous or
heterogeneous mixture
List three of the substances in the soda that make up the mixture
Explain why muddy water can be classified as a “suspension”
If you had a mixture of plastic marbles and paperclips, how could you quickly pull the
paper clips out of the mixture? (Hint: use the picture on p. 459 for a clue!)
Write a paragraph using the following framework:
1st sentence: Define “mixture” and “pure substance.”
2nd sentence: Describe the mixture from this lab as either heterogeneous or
homogeneous and list the three materials that the mixture was composed of.
3rd sentence: Define the term “compound” and give two materials that are
examples of compounds.
