HOW TO RUN A SUCCESSFUL FOOD BUSINESS
In this seminar, participants learn how to start a food service business by studying the major
categories such as restaurants, food trucks, and catering, in order to evaluate which is the best
fit for their experience and finances. Participants will develop an outline of a feasibility study.
This can be used for their restaurant project based on location, renovation cost of an existing
space vs. construction of a new building; equipment costs, cash flow, rules and regulations for
food service. This includes a break-even analysis! The class will use a business plan example
of a restaurant project. It shows how a small restaurant went through the planning stages and
opened within a specific time period and budget.

1 Million Cups (1MC) is a simple way to engage entrepreneurs in communities around the
