Murau
Priewaldkreuz Nr. 133
The way takes us from the village square Steir. Laßnitz along the Priewald brook–
(yellow signs and red-white-red markings) to the „Priewaldkreuz“ and back again.
Duration: approx. 2 hours
Ranten
Kalvarienbergweg Nr. 3
This way takes you from the restaurant Hammerschmied across the Ranten brook. Then
follow the markings tot he direction of the Calvary and walk back to the starting point.
Duration: 1 hour
Rantenbachweg Nr. 1
Start: Restaurant Hammerschmied. Follow the bituminized bike and hiking path along
the Rantenbach (brook) for approx. 3 km to the direction of Murau. At the end oft he
way, keep left and visit the „Waschlrad“. Walk the same way back.
Duration: 2 hours
Mühlenweg Nr. 7
Start: Hornwirt, Seebach. Walk to the „Hubenbauer“ and follow the way to the direction
of Seetal, to the mill. On your way back you walk a part along the Seebachweges Nr. 2
and walk back to the starting point.
Duration: 1 ½ hours
Rottenmannerweg Nr. 8
Start: Restaurant Hammerschmied. Follow the road to the direction of the church and
walk below the church to the right along the „Dorfstraße“. You follow the direction to the
Rantenbichl, turn right to the Gasthof Mooswirt. – From there you walk to the
„Waschlrad“. Return path: along the bike and hike way nr. 1 (Rantenbachweg).
Duration: 3 hours
Leonhardi – Rundwanderweg
The walk starts at the station Murau (Statue Anna Neumann) and runs
along the railway track to the Friesacher road. We follow that road to the St.
Leonhard square. You cross the railway track and walk to the left along the
crossroad to the Leonhardi Church. From there you go down to the pond
„Leonhardi“ and follow the signs to the KLH stadium and outdoor pool.
Return path – follow the Wurmbgasse, walk down the stairs to the
Leonhardplatz, continue your way along the Parkgasse to the city park and
walk back to the starting point.
Duration: 1 h 10 min (approx. 3.5 km)
Second version (shorter):
Same way till Leonhardi pond - there you hike around the whole pond. Now you go
back to the Leonhardi church, down the crossway tot he St. Leonhard
square. You walk across the square and take the Parkgasse back tot he
starting
point.

Ernst-Tausch-Rundweg
The walking path stars at the indoor swimming pool Murau (parking area available). You
cross the main road (to the direction oft he
Billa market), walk along the
Stolzalpensiedlung up to the Ernst-Tausch-Weg. Keep left then and follow the marking.
You cross the Rantenbach at the water storage area and walk via the „Lebenshilfe“ to
the state road, which you cross. Follow the road to the „Hager Mühle“. Return path –
across the „Mühlenweg“, pass the Billa market and walk back to the starting point.
Duration: 1 h 30 min (approx. 4,9 km)
Lärchbergweg
Start: Castle driveway (double round-about). There you cross the bridge
above the main road and walk along the forest track to the Lärchbergstreet. Follow that road approx. 100m till the sign. Keep to the right and
walk till the Haus Ofner vlg. Bandltrager. Then carry on along the Hugo Wolf
Gasse to the state road. Cross the street and follow the road to the Hager
Mühle. Cross the Rantenbrücke at the mill and walk along the Lederwasch
Gasse back to the starting point.
Duration: 45 min (approx. 3,1 km)
Egidiweg (Rundweg)
Start: at the Murau station (Statue Anna Neumann), from there we walk
over the Mursteg and follow the signs to the „Friedhofgasse“, crossing the
Anna church. You walk up the stairs, cross the main road and head
towards Billa market. After Billa market keep right to the
Schwarzenbergsiedlung and walk till you come to the Egidizentrum. From
there walk about 200 meters along the road towards Stolzalpe. At the right
hand bend, you go right into the forest road, behind the Keltensiedlung over to the
chapel. Thenyou turn right and walk up to the inn Egidiwirt. Here you cross the main
road and go at Lidl market over the apartment houses, keep right and follow the signs.
Afterwards go left and walk through the Kögelhofbrücke, along the Murfeld and back to
the starting point (train station).
Duration. 1 h (approx. 3,7 km)
Frauenhainweg (Rundweg)
The tour starts at Murau station towards Frauenalpe. Across the Steinmetz Egger (redwhite-red mark) turn left into the Frauenhainweg. It is a beautiful forest circular route
with a wonderful view of Murau.
Tip for familys: along the Frauenhainweg there awaits you an animal trail.
Duration: 45 minutes
Kreischberg (St. Georgen am Kreischberg)
Bergfalterweg (Rundweg)
Start: Tourist board Kreischberg. From there you walkt o the Kreischberg.
After the Kreischberg hall turn right and follow the gravel path in the
Reichenau. Follow the signs to the fork, keep right and walk downhill to the
Lutzmannsdorferbrücke. In front oft he bridge walk right the bike path (R2)
down the river, pass the power station and the Europabrücke. There turn
right and follow the signs back to the starting point.
Duration. Approx. 1,5 hours (approx. 4,8 km)
Spreitzerhüblweg (Rundweg)
Start: Tourist board Kreischberg. Follow the Grabenstraße to the junction
(see marking). Turn left at the Marbach Road and walk towards forging
Mösenbacher. Before forging keep to the right and walk over the bridge
along the forest path up to a pasture gate. Cross the meadow uphill
(Attention grazing livestock) until you come to the Grabenstraße.Walk
towards thevillage center to the sports store Suli, follow the marking to the
direction of the Kreischberg. Carry on via the Kreischberg road to the starting point.
Duration: approx. 1 hour (approx. 3 km)
Wasserfallweg
Start: Tourist board Kreischberg. Follow the Grabenstraße along the
Lorenzergraben approx. 2km. After a small bridge you see right the
Leonhardi Cross, from there follow the signs to the waterfall. Walk back the
same way.
TIP: Until the turn-off into the forest, the trail is suitable for prams, the last
3-minute walk is on a forest path.
Duration: approx. 1 ¼ hour (approx. 4 km)
Stolzalpe
Ausgangspunkt dieser Wege ist der
Parkplatz bei der Stolzalpenkirche (7 km oberhalb von Murau)
Energieweg (Rundweg)
From the parking area walk right along the Stiegenweg uphill to the fish
pond. Go right, the gravel road to the LKH/House 2. Approx 100 m after the
barriers keep left and follow the path up to the ski lift. From there walk left
along the Kräuterweg to the Gesundheitswerkstätte. Cross the street and
walk down a gravel road. Here you turn right and walk down the
Stiegenweg to the starting point at the church.
Duration: 1 hour (approx. 3 km)
Sonnenweg
Start: parking area (next tot he church). From there you walk right along
the Stiegenweg. Keep on the marked way and pass a “high container“.
Follow the gravel road to the Gesundheitswerkstätte. Carry on tot he
Kräuterweg and the ski lift. Follow the road till the junction Gasthof Maler
Brands (approx. 3,5 km). Under the inn Maler Brands go right along the
forest path up to a high seat. After the high directly to the right, the
meadow path downhill to the gravel road.
There approx. 100 m ahead, then the ÖAV path no. 938 to LKH/House 2 and back to the
starting point at the church.
Duration: 2,5 hours (approx. 8,3 km)
Panoramaweg
Start: parking area (next tot he church). From there you walk right along
the Stiegenweg. Keep on the marked way and pass a “high container“.
Follow the gravel road to the Gesundheitswerkstätte. Carry on tot he
Kräuterweg and the ski lift. Follow the road till the junction Gasthof Maler
Brands (approx. 3,5 km). At the sign "200m Maler Brands" keep to the left.
At the farm Perschl follow the asphalt street to the left untilyou come to the
Merbachsiedlung. At the crossroad in the middle of the settlement, keep
right to the inn Käferhube. At the playground behind the inn follow the ÖAV path no.
938 to the parking area at the church.
