Non-Fiction Text Features Project

 Non‐FictionTextFeaturesProject
Objective: Students will demonstrate knowledge and
understanding of the purpose of using text features in a nonfiction writing sample.
Directions:
Either individually or in teams of no more than three members,
students will create a poster, booklet or power point presentation
in which they will show and explain the different non-fiction text
features.
Text features include but aren’t limited to: headings, titles,
subheadings, pictures, photos, illustrations, captions,
sidebars or text boxes, maps, diagrams, charts, tables,
bold words, highlighted words.
Students can use samples from different articles and sources to
illustrate the different text features.
As a guide to do the project, they can refer to the reference sheet
about Text Features.
Teacher will base the evaluation of the project on:
A) Quality (The design has appearance, creativity and originality)
B) Content (Shows adequate organization and evidence of
preparation)
C) Oral Presentation (Speaks clearly, stays on topic and
demonstrates mastery)
