Dear Children,
At last, the much awaited summer holidays have begun. Months of fun, frolic and relaxation will
make you sing ‘Happy Days are here again’. Most of you must be excited about the travel plans
your parents have made for you during the vacation.
While you get a well-deserved break from the classroom, it doesn’t mean you need to stop
learning. A blissful break is here and it’s time to take a dip into the ocean of knowledge. Learning
helps you to foster empathy, morality, critical thinking, imagination and creativity; it not only
broadens your interests, sparks your passions, but also inspires you to think and do great things.
So open your arms and welcome the summer vacation and mould them towards your growth,
physical, mental as well as intellectual.
Holidays’ Homework has been designed to fire your imagination, to make you explore, discover
and reinvent.

SUGGESTIONS FOR PARENTS:
1. Spend quality time with your children. Take them to see places of interest in Delhi.
2. Help your children to become independent by giving them responsibilities. Involve them in
small household activities.
3. Inculcate in them good manners, healthy habits and respect for elders.
4. Help to imbibe the feelings of empathy, affection and tolerance in your children.
5. Give them a chance to look after you and their younger brothers and sisters.
6. Converse with your children in English.
7. Going by the initiative of ‘SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAAN’ taken up by our honorable Prime
Minister, discuss the importance of cleanliness and motivate your ward to follow the same
as a part of life.
8. Cultivate sportsmanship by motivating your child to play various indoor and outdoor games.
9. Original drawings / illustrations and creative use of material will be appreciated.
10. All the work should be hand written and done neatly.
11. Submit the Holiday homework in an attractive folder with the name and class clearly written
on each sheet.
Science
WALK TOGETHER
1.
Go for walks with your family. You will realize you have 2 of God’s greatest gifts…
NATURE and YOUR FAMILY. Collect any 5 edible leaves (e.g., Tulsi, Mint, etc.). Paste
them on A4 sheet (one on each) and write their uses.
LIFE IS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT WATER.

To ensure the general health of your family, you should make sure to increase the intake
of liquids. Suggest 5 measures to take liquids in different ways during the day.
Examples: Butter milk, Coconut water, Juice, etc.
Paste pictures related to it on a chart paper and give a creative title to the collage work.

Prepare a poster (A3 size) on how to take care of your body.
Include 5 most important ways to do so. Make drawings / paste pictures to explain.

Make a family directory to keep records with you. Use A4 size sheets. On each page
write name of the family member, his or her age, date of birth, contact number. Also
write similar details of any 2 relatives and neighbours. Design the cover page of your
directory and give a unique title to it.

The importance of reading can be experienced by people from all walks of life. Although one can
take to reading at any age, it is much easier to begin at a young age.
Reasons for making reading a habit…
1) Reading makes you smarter as it keeps the brain active and engaged in a thought process.
2) It makes you knowledgeable.
3) It improves your vocabulary and language skills.
4) It boosts your creativity as you imagine things while reading.
Reading story books is a very good way of utilizing your time during the holidays and it is an
interesting way to learn.

1. Read any interesting book and design a creative book cover for it.
2. Write any 15 difficult words from the book with their meanings on an A3 sheet. Decorate it.
3. Frame sentences using your chosen difficult words on A4 sheets.

4. Let’s have ‘Fun with words’. Make as many 3, 4 or 5 letter words as you can from one word.
Place these words neatly on a cutout and hang them under the beautifully colored and
decorated cutout of the main word. Example is illustrated for you. Choose any 1 word from

Paste pictures with your new friend and write how you have helped him and how you have
spent time with him. Write a paragraph. (Roll No. 1 to 11)
3. Click pictures of yourself doing various recreational activities or showing your contribution in
helping your mother or father and paste them on a pastel sheet. Write 3 – 4 lines for each of
