 Summer Reading 2015 for Triad Academy at Summit School Rising 6th, 7th and 8th Grade-­ Full Time and Transitional Students The purpose of summer reading is to help cultivate a love of reading books while maintaining reading fluency by reading out loud to a parent or adult. The faculty at Triad strongly encourage parental involvement in the summer reading process by listening to your child read aloud in order to assist with the following: ● help the student keep a slow, measured pace ● ensure accuracy with skipped words ● alert the student when he/she inserts words into the text that don’t really exist ● correct mis-­read words ● provide help and encouragement with words that the student is having difficulty reading. Assignment: ​ Each student depending on grade level will have an assigned book to read and a form to complete as he or she is reading the book. (The book list and form are below. click on the book title for a link to Amazon to purchase the book.) The student must be prepared to bring in the completed form as well as discuss the book when he or she returns in the fall. We encourage summer reading so please encourage your child to read other books at his or her interest level. The Summit School Library will be open on most Tuesdays from 10am-­2pm in the summer months. Please feel free to come in and pick out additional books for the summer.
