PRESENTATION
INFORMATION AVAILABLE
Together with the Templar Castle of Tomar, founded
by Gualdim Pais (1118-1195), the Master of the Order
of the Temple in Portugal, the Convento de Cristo
forms a unique monumental group of buildings, in
which are to be found some of the most important
references in Portuguese architecture from the 12th
to the 18th century. In this series of buildings, attention is drawn to the Romanesque Charola (Rotunda),
inspired upon the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the
Manueline window in the Upper Choir and the Main
Cloister – one of the most important works from the
European Renaissance
Signs (Portuguese and English). Leaflet
(Portuguese, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese) – €1.00. Multimedia Kiosks (2)
inside – €1.00
