Carrera RC – We only go fast! Munich / Salzburg, January 2011 – For more than 40 years now Carrera has offered unrivalled quality in the slotcar segment. The models in the new Carrera RC series satisfy the strictest standards and have advanced these radio controlled cars, boats and aircraft to their status as premium products in the toy segment. Right from its launch the Carrera RC series has been able to command a dominant position in the market. In October and November 2010 the NPD* market research institute established there had been growth of over 30% in the RC market. The new Carrera RC series has played a central role in this development, as it has already become one of the leading brands in the RC segment after just a few months of market participation. All the Carrera RC models are ‘Ready to Run’ and boast particularly innovative features for the remote controlled toy segment. The RC models use high performance Li-Ion batteries to achieve what are, in comparison, extremely long running times of up to 40 minutes, even at full power. Furthermore, the short recharging time of just 80 minutes is similarly unrivalled. The batteries and power units are at the heart of every model enabling the integration of powerful electric motors for highly impressive top speeds. The fastest Carrera RC models in the 2.4 GHz stable throw down an amazing 35 km/h and generate joy in its purest form – even for the most selective of enthusiasts. Nor should the sophisticated Carrera RC designs go unmentioned as they adeptly unite the typical attributes of quality, use of the latest technology, speed and race atmosphere. Even before they’ve been charged for the first time – all these models are ‘Ready to Run’, to swim, or to fly! Licenses A big buzz is the immediate reaction to the car manufacturer licenses for the reproduction of makes such as Volkswagen and Hummer. The VW Touareg Baja Race and the Hummer H3 Baja Race are such exact copies of the well-loved originals that buyers search the box for desert sand. This is the perfect realisation of pro off-road sport in an RC format. Another big name license has been obtained through cooperation with the US automobile giants, Jeep. Is there another make more strongly associated with the themes off-road and adventure? Jeep has enhance the 27 MHz series with two of its own kind. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is seen as THE archetypal off-road vehicle and features an authentic and fully functional cable winch. *Source: NPD, EPoS Summary Report Germany, November 2010 Alongside it there’s the Jeep Grand Cherokee, a perfectly-crafted, modern SUV reproduction for the RC market. The licensed reproduction Ford F-150 SVT Raptor means Carrera RC has another aggressive rough terrain specialist whose off-road preference is obvious at first glance. What’s more, the new off-roaders are kitted out with head and brake lights. Another license coup has facilitated the production of the Coastguard Boat Falshöft, perfect in every detail and a joy for every fan of waterborne RC vessels. Thanks to Stadlbauer the noble power of the Ferraris can now also be witnessed on the water. The aerodynamic Ferrari Boat ARNO XI is exclusive to Carrera RC and is equipped with a powerful, water-cooled, brushless motor. Racing Machine with a lap counter There is hardly a model in the Carrera RC series that better represents the competitive image of the Carrera brand than the 4WD Racing Machine. The stopwatch integrated into the controls guarantees an ideal prerequisite for the staging of exciting Racing Machine challenges with friends and family. Carrera RC also offers a lap counter set that helps to transform a battle of the giants into a full-blown competition. This accessory means time-regulated lap-based races are another speciality that can be added to the freestyle Racing Machine driving option. The Carrera RC Racing Machine lap counter set consists of two pylons and a light transmission cable that serves as a start line, lap marker and finishing line. The sensor built into the undercarriage of the Racing Machine transmits an infrared signal to the light transmission cable. The timer and lap counting functions are triggered when the car crosses the start line. The lap counter set makes it possible to hold a race with up to 64 cars. Each Racing Machine is allocated a number which is displayed on the driver’s control set. On top of the lap time, the control display also shows the number of laps completed, current race position and the fastest driver in a lap and enables the competitors to set the number of laps to be raced. One driver starts the countdown while the countdown itself is then displayed on every single control set. The lap counter sets now make it possible to set up race conditions with a minimum of effort. Whether on road surfaces or gravel paths, each course can be set up to suit the tastes and talent of each individual Carrera RC driver – and can be adapted at will. Technologies Batteries and power packs Stadlbauer is always a step ahead of the competition when it comes to the technologies used in the RC segment. This is true for the 11.1V – 1200mAh high power Li-Ion batteries in the 2.4 GHz models and also as regards the 12.6V – 800mA rapid rechargers that quickly have the machines back in action for up to 30 minutes. The 27 MHz models are also driven by powerful 7.4V – 700mAh Li-Ion batteries, generating long running times of up to 40 minutes. 8.4V – 500mA rechargers then ensure recharging time is kept to a mere 80 minutes. The special Carrera RC insert system enables batteries to be hooked up in seconds. This is a benefit that is particularly noticeable with the Red Eagle whirlybird. Attaching the battery without a click-in system would be a true test of patience in view of the diminutive proportions of a 3.7V – 120mAh LiPo battery capable of generating up to seven minutes of flying time. The battery takes just 30 minutes to recharge using a 5V – 500mA recharger which is suitable for stationary and mobile deployment. To drive the somewhat larger Sky Hunter there’s a 7.4V – 1000mAh LiPo power pack fed by an 8.6V – 1000mA recharger to produce twelve minutes of unadulterated airborne fun, whether indoors or outdoors. Controls and frequencies 2.4 GHz – Digital Proportional The 2.4 GHz technology in 1:10 and 1:12 scale models, in the 4-channel aircraft and in the Power Wave Boat, enables several vehicles to be driven at one time, independent of frequency, setting new standards in the RC toy segment. Equipped with digitally proportional power technology, not only can these large 2.4 GHz models be steered without jumps and blips, they also react to the gentlest of touches on the accelerator. A 4-channel system is responsible for the excellent control characteristics of the Sky Hunter and Red Eagle helicopters. This technology facilitates pan-directional control and makes even the most technically challenging manoeuvres possible. The RC segment is yet another area in which Carrera has been able to underline the exclusivity of the Carrera brand. 27 MHz – Digital Proportional The benefits of smooth steering and acceleration are by no means limited to the gigahertz crowd. From 2011 onwards the digitally proportional 27 MHz models, the Dune Jumper and the Rock Crawler can be steered and accelerated without jumps or glitches. The control set for the buggy and the trial specialist are based on those of the 2.4 GHz models and are a clear demonstration of the quality of the latest technology in the megahertz range. Another Rock Crawler ‘plus’ is the fact it’s the only 4WD in the 27 MHz series. 27 MHz RC Tri-Band technology ensures uninterrupted enjoyment of 27 MHz models by enabling them to exploit three different frequencies. In addition, two speed settings allow the car to be set up for a range of uses, indoors and outdoors.
