February, 2016
Dear “Class of 2020” Student and Parents,
It is a pleasure to extend this welcome on behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of Columbus East, Columbus
North, and Columbus Signature Academy High Schools. The initial process in becoming a student in high school is
the selection of freshman courses. We feel it is very important that students make quality course selections to
obtain a strong foundation for the rest of their high school careers. The scheduling process is a new experience for
the incoming freshmen and for some of their parents. The high schools, therefore, are planning an eighth grade
parent and student orientation.

information with their parents. On the second day the counselors will collect the Course Selection Sheets
that will indicate what courses the family has chosen. Families who have turned in their transfer form
to the high school will attend the session with the school to which they are transferring. Columbus
Signature Academy will conduct the lottery for open spots on Monday, February 8, 2016. Students invited
through the lottery must return their intent to attend form by Friday, February 12, 2016. All other students
