Not Appropriate:
School Nutrition
Parents in recent weeks there has been an increase in students bringing food
items from home that are not appropriate for school and the district’s focus on
providing nutritional meals for our students. These items (family size bag of chips,
liter size drinks, soda, etc.) will not be allowed in the school and will be confiscated
and returned to the student at the end of the school day. If your child continues
to bring the prohibited items, administration will confiscate them and require a
parent to pick the items up from school.
The food items create unsafe conditions including students having allergic
reactions to some ingredients, lockers have food exposed which increases
the attraction of rodents, and community sharing among the students where
the presence of bacteria being passed between users is concerning.
Furthermore, it creates disruption to the learning environment when students
attempt to bring the snacks into the classroom.
Moving forward and effective immediately, students may bring the
following to be eaten during their lunch periods only:


Snack size packets or bags of chips, fruit snacks, cookies, etc.
A maximum of 20oz. plastic bottle of water or juice
In addition, students are not allowed to bring outside vendors into the
building such as fast food restaurants unless it is a personal “bag lunch” that
was brought from home. The school district supplies nutritional meals free
of charge to all students and the expectation is that each student receives this
prepaid lunch.
Thank you for your support in this matter. If you have any questions
regarding this letter please contact the school office at 414-902-7800.
Respectfully,
Mr. Leon Groce

Student ID Cards:
Effective Immediately. All students
are required to wear their
Audubon Student ID Cards while
at school.
The IDs are also required to
board the school buses both
before and after school. By
having the students show their
school IDs before boarding the
school bus will help ensure that
the student attends Audubon
School. Additionally, it
supports the transportation
companies with confirming the
right passengers are on the
appropriate bus. If your child
does not show their school ID,
they may not be allowed to
board the school bus and the
parent will be responsible for
transporting the student.
Failure to follow this
transportation procedure may
result in suspension or removal
from the school bus.
From Mrs. Baumgardt (School Social Worker)
STUDENT ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES
Absences for any reason result in loss of instruction time. We
know that students who fall behind often become discouraged
learners. It is our hope that we can work together to encourage
your child’s regular attendance and success at school. We
understand that there are many factors in your lives that make it
difficult, at times, for your child to be in school or on time.
However, it is important that we work with you to reduce these
to an absolute minimum. Please remember that your child is
expected to be in his or her classroom at 8:40 a.m.
When your child is going to be late or absent from school, please
call the office at 414-902-7800, before 8:15 a.m. You may leave
a message on the voice mail, if calling before office hours. Please
leave the name of your child’s full name and the reason for the
absence. It is extremely important that this be done, as every
child must be accounted for on a daily basis.
From Ms. Palacios (Parent Coordinator)
