Testing can be a long and arduous task. The teachers have been preparing your students with the knowledge and practice required to take
the performance and computer adaptive tests in the areas of language
arts and math. We ask that you too help them by ensuring they are well
rested, hydrated, and nourished. The Idaho Dairy Council is supplying
every test taker with a cheese stick prior to each testing cycle as brain
food. Test preparedness is the key to success!
As the weather gets warmer, we are expecting students to go outside
after lunch. The fresh air and exercise does us all well. Please help us by
reminding your students to take their coats to lunch as they will be expected to go outside when they are finished eating. We don’t allow
students to return to their lockers during lunch time (no supervision in the
halls) for coats.
Have a safe and enjoyable Spring Break!

SBAC Testing starting soon!
Our SBAC Testing will be taking place in our school library from March 20th
– May 25th. Your student’s teacher will send home their testing schedule
or you may check our website @ http://www.cdaschools.org/Woodland.
During that time the library will be open on Mondays ONLY for checking
books out. Any books that are currently due can be returned using our book
drop outside the library. It is located just before you head down the 6th
grade pod. Late library books still can accrue a book fine during our testing
period so check those dates. If you would like to pay a book fine during
testing you can see Miss Debbie in the office.
Here are a few tips to help you do your best:
Get to bed early the night before test day for plenty of
rest
• Eat a good breakfast with protein
• Drink plenty of water on test day
• Don’t forget your glasses if you wear them
• BRING YOUR EAR BUDS—the Language Arts portion of your test you will
need a hearing device.
•
Newfangled Book Club
Due to testing in Library hours, Book Club will meet this month on Monday,
April 10th ~ Grab your lunch & head to the library! This month we will be
reading “Steelheart” by Brandon Sanderson.

8th Grade Baby Pictures
Attention, 8th Grade—We need your pictures!
As we approach the end of the year, we are preparing
for the 8th Grade Celebration. The Grizzly tradition is to
make a slideshow depicting each of the 8th grade students as a baby… and then as they mature, into the
good-looking teenagers they are now. To make this
possible, we need pictures! Here’s how to get your
student’s pictures in the slideshow:
Put the two (2) pictures in an envelope with your
student’s full name and grade on it
OR Email the two pictures to Mrs. Selby
([email protected]). Be sure to include in the
body of the email your student’s full name and grade.
Please submit your pictures prior to May 5th
Thank you!

Healthy Eating Out…Planning Ahead in Your Busy Schedule
Life can get hectic this time of year between sport practices, music lessons, and other school clubs and events. There will
be times when the dinner hour arrives and you find yourself driving to the nearest fast food restaurant to feed the crew.
What can you do to maximize the nutritional bang for your buck? Here are a few tips to assure you make the best choices.
Have a “go-to” list of restaurants that your family enjoys that offers healthier options such as salads, fresh sandwiches, and
meat & veggie rice bowls. Choose smaller portions by avoiding the super-sized meal options. Opt for milk, water or juice
over soda. Add veggies where you can such as on sandwiches, on top of the pizza or as a side salad option over fries. You
can avoid overdoing the high-fat sauces and dressings by keeping them on the side and lightly dipping foods. Lastly, all
food choices will fit into your diet provided you exercise good portion control and balance them with healthier choices. To
learn more about healthy eating, go the Nutrition Services department page and click on “Nutrition Links that We Like”
