Dig This!! 2016 T H E K R E S S FA R M N EWS L E T T E R We would like to shine a spotlight on a great project at Kress Farm this month. That project is "seed starting" and was begun by Liz Copeland who collects seeds from Kress Farm, her yard, other master gardeners and anywhere else she can find seeds for native plants. The seeds are started in the winter in translucent gallon milk jugs, which act as miniature greenhouses, and kept outside. We have a batch of these seeds which were started last winter and we hope to be able to sell them at the plant sale in 2016. This is a learning project and requires a lot of work. It was very satisfying this past summer to see all the plants potted up and, hopefully, ready for sale in May of 2016. Please stop by and help out! We are at Kress Farm most Wednesdays - weather permitting. Save those translucent gallon milk jugs for us! January Meeting This month’s meeting will be January 10, 2016. There will be a Board Meeting at 11:00 and our potluck lunch will be at 12:30. The speakers will start at 1:00. Tom Christman will be our first speaker and he will discuss "Seed Saving". Glen Bristle will then talk about and demonstrate his "Soil Blocks" which we will soon be using at Kress Farm. Lots of great information to be had. Be sure to make it! Yes, this is cute, but I’d rather be playing in the dirt…………...
