Unite Youth Church
Financial:
One of the largest obstacles in participation in Fine Arts can be the financial
commitment. To help ease the financial burden we have stretched payments over the
course of the Fine Arts season.
Funds are non-refundable once paid toward either Districts or Nationals unless in the
case that the student (in the midst of fundraising for Nationals) does not advance. If your
student decides to quit or is removed from the team, their funds will be put towards the
replacement needed for the team.
Due dates are clearly specified in the National & District Information. It is the
responsibility of the student and parent to uphold these due dates. In the event a payment
is not received, contact will be made immediately to evaluate the situation. If accounts
are not kept current it will result in the removal of the student from his/her Fine Arts Team.
We accept credit card and checks payable to Calvary Assembly. Cash will only be
accepted when a receipt book is present. Online payment will also be available.
Disciplinary Action
The following are expectations for our students to uphold during their commitment to
Fine Arts. The Team Coach will document instances where students might not abide to the
guidelines. Upon review of the situation, Pastor Dana will determine a plan of action. If at
anytime the situation becomes excessive, or extreme, it will result in immediate removal
from his/her team, and the student will forfeit all funds in his/her Fine Arts account.
Dress Code:
All students must bring an appropriate outfit for practice. An appropriate practice
outfit consists of wearing a t-shirt, shorts or pants which should be appropriate for lifting,
tumbling, etc., and also appropriate shoes for human videos (cheerleading or tennis shoes
highly recommended). It is important to realize that most of the injuries in the past have
been attributed to inappropriate shoes lacking ankle support.
Below is a list of inappropriate items for practice:
Spaghetti Strap Shirts
Female Tank Tops
Short Shorts
Skirts
Mid-drift Shirts
Low Cut Tops
See-through clothing
Extremely tight clothing
If the student does not attend practice with proper attire they will be required to sit
out until proper clothing arrives.
Character Statement:
It is our desire that all of our team members and coaches will uphold the integrity
standards and character of Calvary Assembly. If there is any questionable behavior that
goes against the values of Calvary Assembly we will address the situation with the
individual. Depending on the severity of the behavior an action plan will be put in to place
to assist in the student’s life. It is always more beneficial for students to address the situation
before leadership finds out through other means. This is highly encouraged as our sole
desire is to ensure proper growth for each of our students.
Relationships:
NO excessive or inappropriate PDA (Personal Display of Affection) will occur during
Fine Arts practices, District, and National Festivals. If problems occur, students will have a
meeting with Pastor Dana, and any subsequent issues will result in the recommendation of
removal from their team.
Gossiping:
One of the greatest hindrances of team unity is gossip. Gossip is defined as
discussion of a situation where you are not a part of the problem or solution. Gossip has
been the source of several students, parents, and coaches desiring to no longer be
associated with the program and thus will not be tolerated. If gossip occurs, the members
involved in the activity will be suspended from practice and the situation will be resolved
immediately with all parties involved.
Attendance Policy:
The team coaches will closely monitor attendance, both absences and tardiness. If
for whatever reason during the season, absences or tardiness become excessive, the
student and parent will receive contact via phone call in hopes to resolve any situation(s)
resulting in attendance issues. If attendance issues continue, the student will be
recommended for removal from team, forfeiting any funds in their fine arts account.
We understand that people hold busy schedules, and while Fine Arts takes an
extensive commitment, it is only fair to the teams that we enforce the attendance policy.
We try to respect the sacrifice and dedication from fellow team members and coaches
and it is unfair to the team if students do not respect the time of others. If for some reason
the student must miss practice, all communication must go through the team coach PRIOR
to the day of practice with the exclusion of emergency situations.
Practice Rooms:
We strive to provide adequate practice rooms in close vicinity to each other. We ask
that all students abide by room policies and not tamper with items in the room. At the
conclusion of practice, students are expected to put the rooms back exactly the way they
found it. We are asking that they place ALL food/drink items in the designated "break
areas" at the beginning of practice to eliminate “accidents.” The students have been
advised that if for any reason they are at fault in losing their practice rooms, their team will
be responsible for acquiring other facilities elsewhere. Lastly, we are asking that no cell
phones be used during practice. If you, as a parent, need to get a hold of your student,
please contact your coaches (they will carry their cell phones at all times). This has been a
huge distraction in the past and we try to eliminate any and all distractions where possible.
Eligibility:
Fine Arts is a National Ministry of the Assemblies of God and they require all students
to be actively attending an Assemblies of God church. While some of our students call
other churches home for Sunday mornings services we require our students to actively
attend Wednesday service. (**see Youth Gatherings) If for some reason your student can’t
adhere to these requirements, please contact Pastor Dana and he will address the issue.
Respect:
All of our coaches sacrifice their time every week to ensure that we are able to have
a Fine Arts program. The one thing that we ask of our students is that they are respectful of
their supervision. If they cannot abide by this policy at any given practice, they will be
asked to leave and parents will be notified to come and pick them up.
Youth Gatherings:
It is our belief that Fine Arts is just one piece of the puzzle at Unite. We believe that it
is very important for our students to not only be involved with Fine Arts, but also with our
weekly gatherings. We hold youth service Wednesday nights at 7:00pm. Students are
required actively participate in our youth service (Wednesday). If students don’t uphold the
attendance standard, they will be removed from their Fine Arts team.
Team Placement:
Every year many parents and students communicate their desires for particular
teams. While we are open to requests we do not guarantee that they can be granted. If
you have concerns with team placement please feel free to let us know and we will
evaluate the situation. We do spend numerous hours in creating a great team dynamic for
all of our students, so please keep this in mind. Student will not receive placement until their
initial payment has been received. All students paying after the deadline will be able to fill
in empty slots as availability exists. Prior year’s team will be intact for all non-musical
categories unless a concern has been made aware.
Parents
Parents are encouraged to be involved in the lives of their students. Many years we have
an overwhelming amount of support from the parents of our students. If you are interested
in volunteering in an capacity, please email Jacob Eaddy at [email protected] or
call at 407-529-9074. Please note ALL parents will be required to do a background check
before volunteering with Fine Arts.
Other Categories:
It is our desire that students will participate in a broad spectrum of categories that the Fine
Arts program offers. While human video has become the popular option for our students,
we want to see the other categories continue to grow as well. We have multiple volunteers
heading up divisions for us from music & instrumentals to communication. If your student
desires/needs assistance in either individual or group entries please contact us for more
information. As a method of unifying as a Youth Church and stretching the talents of all
parties involved, participating in Youth Choir at Unite Church is MANDATORY.
Text Alerts/Email Updates:
With the growing amount of students and parents involved in Unite Fine Arts, it is imperative
we continue to strive in making communication a priority. It is very difficult for this to
happen without proper information. On the commitment form please make sure there is a
working email & cell phone number for at least one parent of each student. Also, if your
student has a working cell phone & email address, please make sure their correct
information is listed on the student release form. These are requirements for forms to be
accepted.
