Psalm 62:6
ALLELUIA!
For past six weeks from Ash Wednesday till the end of Lent we silence
the "Alleluias," but even then, they are not extinguished for good; only
hushed. For the baptized in Christ, the Alleluias can never be totally
silenced. These past forty days we have journeyed with Christ throughout
the season of Lent, through Holy Week, and finally to His blessed cross
and burial. But after three days in death, our Lord has arisen from the
dead! He who died for us laid down His life and raised it back again. Our
Jesus gained nothing by this, but through His death and resurrection, He
gained everything for His people - life and salvation! Consider all the times
we can sing Alleluia... Again! We are conceived in sin; dead, blind, and
enemies of God. And then, the water and the Word are poured over us.
Our sins are washed away and we become children of the heavenly
Father. From death to life eternal - WE SING ALLELUIA! Think of the
times we sin; breaking His every Commandment so very often. Think of
the broken relationships we create because of our evil tongue, our
stubborn ways, and our mean disposition. And yet, we reconcile with our
neighbor, we repent, and ask for forgiveness. We hear those beautiful
words of absolution, "I forgive you!" and again, WE SING ALLELUIA!
Easter comes again another year. We put away our Alleluias for 40 days,
but once again we celebrate His glorious resurrection. God has defeated
the devil, our sin is forgiven, and our Heavenly Father has accepted the
sacrifice of His Son for our salvation. AGAIN - WE SING ALLELUIA!
And then, our bodies will give out and we will be placed our tomb. Then...
the trumpet shall sound... in the twinkling of an eye... Christ will return and
call us from our resting place. Our dead bodies will hear His voice, our
eyes shall awaken, our flesh shall be restored, our tombs will burst open,
and we will rise from the dead! And then... WE SHALL SING ALLELUIA!
AGAIN… AND AGAIN… AND AGAIN WITHOUT END!
IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF EASTER! It's all because Christ has made all
things new in rising from the dead. St. Augustine tells us that we are an
Easter people and Alleluia is our song. We are an Easter people because
Jesus died and rose for us. It's time! Yes, it's time! It's time to
sing Alleluia again! Sing it out! Ring it out! You are a new creation
in Christ Jesus forevermore!
Principal’s Report – Mrs. Wallner
HE IS RISEN!!!!
Isaiah 40:31 “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they
will walk and not be faint”
Have you started to see the signs of spring? Just recently, I began to
notice how the air is not so cold, snow piles are melting and spring is
actually here! The other day, I noticed tulips starting to peek through
the soil in the front of school and the bushes and trees are beginning
to bud. I even noticed a robin looking for food outside in my
backyard. How wonderful our God is for providing the re-growth and
renewal of life that comes from Jesus and HIS love for us. His death
on the cross and then His resurrection are like the changing of winter
to spring; we are filled with hope for a renewed life and bright future.
We are so blessed! It is Easter, Let us celebrate Jesus’ resurrection
the victory has been won! REJOICE! This love that Jesus has for us
is unconditional, never-ending, non-judging, and pure. I thank God
each and every day for loving me so much that He sent His only son to die for my sins. I rejoice
knowing my sins are forgiven and one day I will be with Him in Heaven. Remember to rejoice in
all things; look around ---there is so much to rejoice! ALLELULIA!
ELDER REPORT
As a member here at Immanuel I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to partake in some
extra faith building experiences. The first comes from being an Elder. During our monthly
meetings our agenda includes Pastors' devotion. We have been going through the Small
Catechism and refreshing our memories of things we might have forgotten from our
Confirmation days. With our memories refreshed we can use them in our visits. Another
enjoyable experience is the Bible Study on Sunday mornings at 8:15 am. It helps explain the
sermons and Pastor is able to go into more depth. We have the time to exchange thoughts and
ideas and ask questions. I hope and pray that more people would join us. So consider this an
invitation to come to Sunday Morning Bible Study, I know you will not be disappointed. I hope
you enjoyed the Lenten meals that were offered. It is not easy to plan, prepare, serve and clean
up. I would like to thank all the Boards for their service. You might want to consider helping
even if you are not on a Board. The Immanuel School Open House was on Feb.23. As I looked
in the classrooms and hallways there were many beautiful things going on in the school. The
teaching staff needs to be commended on what a nice job they are doing. Christian values are
certainly being taught to our students. Take the time to visit and talk to them at any time during
the day. The Elders continue their member contacts. We need more help during the services.
Not only ushering but also in helping with Communion Assistants. If you are interested please
see me for more information about this program. We also need help with a shortage of Board
members so you might consider helping out. Thank you! THE LORD HAS RISEN! HE IS
RISEN INDEED! ALLELUIA!

TRUSTEE REPORT
Thank you to Rob Stroede for accepting the invitation to join the Trustees. We still have
room for 1 or 2 new Trustees, if anyone is interested contact Pastor or one of the Trustees. The
Trustees passed a motion to start budgeting money for new energy efficient florescent light
bulbs throughout the church and school. The current bulbs are getting close to when they need
to be replaced. By setting this money aside we are hoping to not to have scramble for money
when the bulbs start burning out. If anyone would like to donate money for light bulbs just write
light bulbs on your giving envelope. Phase I of the church security system has been installed on
the church office doors by JSM Communications. We now have key cards/fobs to get into the
church offices. With this new system the key card/fob can be disabled when a person no longer
needs access to an area. If the card/fob is turned in or not it can be disabled, increasing our
church office security. Half of the money for this Security System is coming from the Mahnke
special fund the other half is from Memorials. The East school front entrance door hardware has
been replaced by THE LOCK SHOP since it was worn out and couldn’t be adjusted anymore. Mark
your calendars for the 2ND ANNUAL IMMANUEL GOLF OUTING on August 20th at Sunset Hills
Golf Course. Finally thank you to everyone who joined us at the two Lenten meals hosted by the
Trustees. We donated about $60 from the Freewill offering of each Lenten meal to Immanuel’s
Special Funds (Fun With…).

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION REPORT
Thank you to everyone who supported the Christian Education Benefit on March 12 all the
proceeds will be supporting our mission to Build Faith in Christ One Child at a Time at
Immanuel. The Board of Christian Education is starting to prepare for next year BUT we can’t
do it without YOU! As we prepare for next school year we want to accurately order books and
supplies so please complete your registration packets for the 2016-2017 school year and
return them to the school office ASAP! Having your registration forms helps to plan
accurately and be prepared for your child’s return. If finances are a concern please talk with
Mrs. Wallner about the school choice program and scholarship opportunities. We are happy to
announce that through donations we were able to purchase a Direct Student Information
System (DSIS) for Immanuel which will allow us to report required information to the state as
part of the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP). We are sad to announce that Mrs.
Barb Messner plans to retire from the Before and After School care program at the end of this
school year. We wish Barb well and we will miss her greatly! The Board has requested a hiring
committee be appointed and we will be interviewing to replace Barb to assure care in the
program is uninterrupted.

YESTERDAY… TODAY… TOMORROW…
The task of working and keeping this creation takes place on only one of the three kinds
of days which are YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW. Yesterday is a wonderful thing. It
is filled with all of the memories of past accomplishments. What we did yesterday often leaves
us with a big grin on our face, as we remember what was. But, yesterday has its limitations.
While there are indeed many of our yesterdays that cause us great joy, there are many of those
yesterdays that are filled with sorrow and grief. Regrettably, those joys cannot be relived. Worst
of all, the failures and heartaches that filled our yesterdays can’t be undone either.
In our world today, there is a big focus for Tomorrow. Children and youth long for
tomorrow to come with all of its excitement and privilege. But it isn’t just the youth and children
that have this hankering for tomorrow either. Many of us look to tomorrow, because in our
minds, it will be better than our yesterdays. Tomorrows are free of all of the regrets from
yesterday. There is only hope and promise. Tomorrow means more maturity… more financial
stability… new opportunities. Yet, even with all of its potential, tomorrow has its own limitations.
Even tomorrow contains uncertainties because we know a day is coming when we will not have
a tomorrow in this world. That is why Jesus, highlights some of this uncertainty of tomorrow
when He teaches: “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be
anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (MATT. 6:34). In spite of all of its
promise, tomorrow is yet another day over which we have no control.
This leaves only one day that the Lord has given us to use as steward. That is TODAY.
Today was a great word of promise to the repentant thief on the cross as He promised him
paradise. Today had great effect on Zacchaeus when Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has
come to this house… (LUKE 19:9). Today is the day which carries the greatest joy. “This is
the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (PSL. 118:24). St. Paul also
tells us: “Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2
CORINTHIANS 6:2). We as stewards of God’s precious creation are only able to live in the
moment, TODAY. So a steward can only be a steward in the moment. The steward may reflect
on what was or what might be, but God-pleasing stewardship can only take place today.
With this in mind, the faithful Christian steward is called to become a faithful steward of today! A
faithful steward of today will be in the Word on a daily basis. It is this Word that the Lord uses to
shape and form the steward for service in the kingdom of God for today! Today’s stewardship is
not just about what the individual steward is able to accomplish in any given day. Stewardship is
a matter of the Holy Spirit working in and through the child of God to accomplish the purposes
for the Lord. Sometimes, that task involves financial stewardship. But more often than not, the
stewardship of today is really nothing more than a living, active service shown to the neighbor
for the sake of the Lord. This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in —
and generous stewards of — it for the sake of Christ!

THE CHURCH AND STATE
LCMS Recognized Service Organizations (RSOs)
LCMS Recognized Service Organizations (RSOs) foster the mission and ministry of the
LCMS as they show the love and compassion of Christ to those in need. RSOs are independent
organizations; however, they serve those who are struggling, from beginning of life to end of life,
in urban, suburban and rural areas. Many of these services are provided out of a church facility
or alongside a congregation.
On a recent visit to one of our RSOs, a church volunteer told me this story: A homeless
man had come in from the cold and rain to find a warm place to rest. After the volunteer had
found dry clothes and a pair of shoes for him, she knelt down to help the man take off his wet
and torn shoes. He expressed embarrassment that she should have to look at the terrible
condition of his feet. She then gave him food and said a prayer for him. He offered his heartfelt
thanks for the com-passion shown to him. This is the vocation that God has called me to, the
volunteer explained — serving the RSO and living out my faith in Christ. She felt humbled, she
added, to have the opportunity to share the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ with immigrants, the
homeless and those who are troubled in life.
On another visit, an RSO staff. member who works with troubled youth said, after seeing
how the organization promoted its mission of faith through service to those in need, that she and
her family were preparing to join an LCMS congregation. The seed that was planted by service
to an RSO is being nourished by the Holy Spirit. God has called each of us to love and serve
our neighbor, showing the mercy of Christ. Our LCMS RSOs work with youth, families, the
elderly, the homeless and those with disabilities.
Through our RSOs, we serve veterans, immigrants and refugees, ethnic groups, and
others in need. RSOs offer opportunities for LCMS members to serve as volunteers, to work in
program areas, to serve as board members and especially to pray for RSOs as they reach those
who, in our world, are often considered the least and most undesirable.
You can serve also by knitting hats and scarves, putting together baby items or school
kits, and donating items specific to an RSO's ministry area. Visit the RSO webpage at lcms.org
to find a list of Recognized Service Organizations, including contact information and a list of
services provided by individual organizations.

Pre-Kindergarten News from Mrs. Fredericks
The month of April is just around the corner. I have seen a tremendous
amount of growth in all of the children. The children have been working
hard on improving all of their skills, socially and academically. Great job
everyone!
The pre-kindergarten children have begun a thematic unit entitled,
“Spring”. Throughout this unit, we learn about the many changes occurring
in nature. We are excited to see and hear all of God’s creation waking up
during this time of year. Our math, language arts, science, religion, art and
social studies activities center around this theme. The children have also been learning about
the church season of Lent. We have learned about Christ’s death on a cross on Good Friday,
and His glorious resurrection on Easter morning.
Kindergarten News from Ms. Erdmann
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! The Kindergarten class is celebrating Read Across
America and Dr. Seuss’s Birthday during the month of March. Students have
been sorting real words and “Dr. Seuss words” (nonsense words), reading their
favorite books and creating our very own Dr. Seuss inspired creatures. We have
welcomed several guest readers into our classroom including parents and
grandparents of students. The Kindergarten are also learning about and preparing for Easter.
They are learning about the many miracles he performed and what it means for us that he died
on the cross for us.
1st & 2nd Grade News from Mrs. Rosenstein
The first and second grade students have been walking through Holy Week, taking time to see,
touch and hear the story of Easter through Resurrection Eggs. Each egg holds a scripture verse
and an item to help us remember and retell the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. We are
also reminded to look around and find symbols of the cross---letter T’s, utility poles, and lines in
fences and signs. When we see these “crosses”, we are reminded to thank Jesus for loving us
so much and for forgiving our sins by His life and death. Easter day can be the most exciting
and inspiring day of the year and the first and second grade class wish all of you a Very Blessed
Easter! It is very hard to believe that the third quarter is over already. As we hopefully say goodbye to chilly, gloomy winter days, we also say farewell to our 3 rd quarter student teacher from
Concordia. Ms. Laura Kolander has completed her 1st placement of student teaching in our
classroom. It has been a joy to have her here, and we pray she has continued success in the
education field. Thank you, Ms. Kolander and God’s Blessings on your next placement! So, this
means, when we come back from spring break, and the sun is shining each morning through
our classroom window, Mrs. Rosenstein is also back with her 1st & 2nd students! Happy Spring!
Saying Hola to Spanish! Spanish K-2 from Mrs. Rosenstein
The Kindergarten – 2nd grade have been learning words to name objects in the house and in the
classroom. We have labeled our classroom and enjoy finding and calling out words like
escritorio (desk), ventana (window), puerta (door), lapiz (pencil), papel (paper), mesa (table),
silla (chair), tijeras (scissors), and many other items we would find in the house and in our
school. We also continue to practice vocabulary for food and we always open Spanish class
with greeting one another. We are enjoying building our Spanish vocab and hope to be using it
often outside of Spanish class!
3rd and 4th Grade News from Ms. Gallegos
The 3rd and 4th graders completed their animal research projects this week. The students spent
some time presenting their animal habitats to the class. On the last day of the project, the
students were able to present their reports and habitat dioramas to the Kindergarten class, 1st
and 2nd graders, and even Pastor! The students are working more on
root words and how the definition of a root gives clues to what bigger
words could mean. This week the students are working with the Latin
root: -rupt, which means to break or burst. The students are taking this
information and are working with words such as: erupt, interrupt,
abrupt, and rupture. To go along with the root word –rupt, the students
are working on a mini unit about volcanoes. The 3 rd and 4th graders
have a big interest in Pompeii, an Italian city that was destroyed by
Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79.
5th-8th Grade Spanish News from Ms. Gallegos
The Middle School students started a Family unit with creating a family crest.
The students filled in a shield with drawings of what they and their families like
to do together. The students then moved on to learning family vocabulary
terms and created their own arbol genealogico, family tree. These family trees
included their immediate family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
After creating their own family trees, the students applied their knowledge of
family vocabulary to ask and answer questions in Spanish about other family
trees.
5th and 6th Grade News from Mrs. Wallner
We are at the end of the 3rd quarter and making preparations for Easter and enjoying some well
needed time off. The middle school students will be preparing for the track & field day, wishing
we could be running outside. Running around the gym isn’t the same as practicing outside.
Soon the Meet will be here it will be on May 20th at Howards Grove High
School. The math classes have been discussing volume, perimeter, - &
+ numbers, multiplying large numbers and division, fractions, polygons,
adding and subtracting mixed numbers with regrouping. In health class
we are discussing our emotions. How we deal with others, how this can
be improved, our feelings and how it affects those around us. Also
learning how to keep our stress at a minimum and controlling or dealing
with our stressful lives as teens. We need to remember to keep our hearts healthy by eating
right and exercising to keep our heart rates up too. Remember, “My
Changing Body” book is due to be completely read by April 4 th. You
will be bringing the book back to school fully read and discussed at
home with your parents. Let’s work super hard this 4th quarter!
Happy Easter!
English & Language Arts - News from Ms. Morgan
All of the middle school students are wrapping up the construction of their essays on the class
novels. It has been a difficult but worthy process. The students can now support their ideas
with evidence from the text and stronger language, skills which build their credibility as writers.
Next, the classes will begin a poetry unit. They will read the works of great poets as well as
create their own poetry.
5th & 6th grade Social Studies News from Ms. Morgan
The 5th & 6th grade class is in the midst of studying Ancient Italy. It’s astonishing to see how
practical and advanced the thinking of the ancient Italians was! From the ancient Italians, we
have received ideas regarding irrigation, infrastructure, a republic, and so much more!
Music News from Ms. Morgan
All of the students are enjoying taking a closer look at music through the various activities that
we do. They are learning to more accurately read the music that they sing and play. The
middle schoolers are also wrapping up their presentations on famous composers. They enjoy
taking an active role in the learning experience of their peers.
