TOURING INFORMATION AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS THE ADVENTURES OF ALVIN SPUTNIK: DEEP SEA EXPLORER BY TIM WATTS 1 TOURING INFORMATION AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS PRODUCER CONTACT INFORMATION The Last Great Hunt General Manager: Sian Roberts Email: [email protected] Producer: Sean Walsh Email: [email protected] STAGING AND VENUE Alvin Sputnik is an almost entirely self-contained show. The set travels with the company and the performer and can assembled up from scratch in approximately 3 – 4 hours. Considering the nature of the show, the performance works best when in a front on set up to a raked audience seating. Required at the venue is a space minimum 6000mm in depth and 6000mm in width, black in colour. Also required is the ability to have a full black out in the venue. Required Notes • Stage Space minimum 6000mm depth and 6000mm width. • Black backdrop and floor. • Full Black Out in venue CAPACITY AND SEATING The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer was built as an intimate experience for small audiences with a capacity between 100-225. Ideal seating is 14 seats across, 10 rows deep. However, 20 rows across, 11 deep is ok. Presenters are welcome to seat additional people on the floor, in front of the first row. The final row of audiences should be no farther away from the performer than 20 - 25 metres. Due to the scale of the show, the puppets, and the animation, audience seated any wider or deeper will not have a quality experience. Presenters with large halls are encouraged to place the show and audience on their stages, with seats on bleachers. Presenters with mid-scale venues will need to block off specific seats as not for sale to ensure an optimum performance experience. Black box spaces work best. 2 TOURING INFORMATION AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS COMPANY Total touring company: 1x Performer/Sound/Light operator 1x Technical Manager 1x Touring Manager FREIGHT The set travels with the company in 2 x travel suitcases. The company have 2 x personal bags and carry on luggage. All suitcases will travel on the plane with the company or will be freighted depending on costs. Set 1. Approx. weight 31kg / L - 82cm, W - 59cm, H - 34cm 2. Approx. weight 31kg / L - 91cm, W - 38cm, H - 33cm Personal 2 x 31 kgs luggage cases All cases approx: L - 82cm, W - 59cm, H - 34cm LIGHTING AND ELECTRICS Alvin Sputnik is lit entirely by equipment made by the company, assisted by a short throw projector (See Audio Visual). The lights of the show are built into the set and travel with the company. The Performer operates the entire show through a series of foot pedals and switches whilst performing. The four main lights are a series of LEDs rigged into an attached casing, with each running off mains power. The company also uses a bubble machine with a halogen light. This plugs straight into a mains power source and is operated by a foot switch. As this is the case there is no need for theatre lights to be rigged in a grid prior to the arrival of the company. The only requirement of Lighting is to have the house lights available and operating for the audience as they enter. To maintain the performer operating the show, the company requests to be able to operate the house lights from a mini tech desk (the desk is built by the company, but the lighting desk for operation will need to be supplied by the venue) which sits on stage opposite prompt (Stage Right). The company also understands this particular requirement may not be possible due to certain venue’s house lights being rigged into a fixed circuit operated by only one position, and we’re flexible on this matter. (Ideally we have the house lights running off a small dimmer 4 pack or something similar, and operate via thus). 3 TOURING INFORMATION AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Finally the only other electrical requirement are three 240V mains power points for a computer to sit on the mini tech desk, a bubble machine and small halogen light US behind the screen, and for a short throw projector to sit onstage at the centre downstage point. Required Notes • House Lights to be operated from Mini Tech Desk on stage (OP/SR) – Lighting desk to be supplied by the venue. Flexible on this matter. • 3 x 240V (Or country equivalent) mains power points. One at Mini Tech Desk on stage (OP/SR), one US behind screen slightly PS, and the other running to DSC. (Extension cables running along the stage are fine if taped down). SOUND The production now travels with a small sound desk which caters for both the show and pre show sound. To connect this travelling sound desk with the theatre it is best to use 2 XLR cables (The sound desk output is in XLR) Required Notes • 2 XLR cables to run from sound desk to speakers/venue sound system. AUDIO VISUAL Alvin Sputnik is a performance which crosses multi-media platforms. The show’s central staging is a large circular screen onto which animation (live and pre-recorded) is projected. The company travels with a short throw projector which sits on the floor at the front of stage (no rigging required as is floor level front on projection). The projector is connected to the operating computer through an HDMI cable which also travels with the company. The only requirement is, as mentioned before in Lighting and Electrics, is a 240V mains power point to the projector DSC. Required Notes A 240V mains power point DSC (Mentioned also in Lighting and Electrics requirements) STORAGE (Shared Venue Seasons) In the case of performing the show in a shared venue, there are a few requirements necessary to allow for a quick turnaround time between shows. As the show’s set is very light it can be moved offstage with ease. However, to dismantle the entire set and then have to re-assemble the next day becomes very time consuming. 4 TOURING INFORMATION AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS In this regards to allow for a quick set up and pack down the company requires a storage floor space of approximately 3000mm x 1600mm, with a height minimum of 2500mm. The set up in this case is approximately 45 minutes, and the pack down can be 30 minutes each night. As the production uses a bubble machine, we will also require a mop and bucket to allow cleaning to take place during the changeover of the two shows. Required Notes • Storage Floor Space approximately 3000mm x 1600mm, with a height availability of 2500mm. • Mop and Bucket PRODUCTION SCHEDULE Schedule A-Same day load in with first show at 7pm DATE/TIME 12:45 15:45 16:45 17:45 17:45 18:45 HRS 3 1 1 ACTIVITY Bump In & Tech run Dinner/break Set Up 18:45 19:00 20:00 0.25 1 0.25 Open Doors Performance Post show Q&A Bump Out As Required Staff Out Venue Locked 20:00 20:15 20:15 21:00 0.75 21:00 21:00 Personnel All Performer, Tech Manager, Tour Manager HD Head Technician (provided by venue) Front of House Manager(provided by FOH venue) Company Personnel All All All Venue Personnel HD Tech All HD Tech FOH Manager Notes All All All HD Tech DRESSING ROOM REQUIREMENTS The touring company will require one (1) dressing room.
