Norway Post Stamps Norwegian Association of the Blind Centenary Norwegian Art III Christmas Stamps No. 5/09 Norway Post Philatelic Service Dear customer, In this information leaflet, we have pleasure in presenting the last three stamp issues of the year. On 8 October we commemorated the centenary of the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted with a stamp designed by Enzo Finger. The value of the stamp is also printed in Braille. Enzo Finger was also responsible for designing four new stamps in our Norwegian Art series, which go on sale on 16 November. The works shown on the stamps are by sculptors Gustav Vigeland, Nils Aas, Arnold Haukeland and Kristian Blystad. The subjects of this year’s Christmas stamps designed by Madeleine Mortensen symbolise Christmas decorations, and in the background we can read the words from two Christmas carols. Next year’s stamp programme is published on page 3 and 2010 promises 2 to be a very exciting year with a large variety of issues. Four new stamps in our Norwegian Popular Music series, devoted to the Eurovision Song Contest, will be issued for the international final next year in Oslo. Molde is holding its 50th Jazz Festival in 2009 and this will be marked with a stamp issue on 11 June. Stamps to commemorate 50 years of television in Norway will be yet another exciting issue. There should be plenty of subjects to choose from for these stamps. We wish our customers an enjoyable pre-Christmas period - and a very Happy Christmas when the time comes! Yours sincerely, Halvor Fasting Director Correction Correction of issue figures In our information leaflet No. 4/09, we wrote that M/S “Black Prince”, the subject of NK 1733 for the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association’s centenary, was built in 1966. The ship was built by Akers Mekaniske Verksted in Oslo and handed over to Fred. Olsen in 1938. It was taken over by the occupation forces during World War II and was used as an accommodation ship, among other things, by the German Luftwaffe. It was broken up in Antwerp in 1951 (Source: www.faktaomfartyg.se). In the same information leaflet, we reported that the stamps in the Norwegian Popular Music series - Rock Pioneers would be issued in 250,000 rolls of 100 stamps each. The correct figure is 228,640 rolls of 100 stamps each, which gives 5,716,000 copies of each stamp. In information leaflet No. 3/09, it is stated that NK 1724 (Submarine Branch centenary) would be issued in 600,000 copies. The actual quantity delivered by the printers was 525,000 stamps.
