ThestudenthandbookisintendedtoinformstudentsofpoliciesandproceduresoftheUnion
CountySchoolDistrictthatpertaindirectlytostudents.Thisisnotanexclusivelistofstudent
policies.Foracompletelistofpolicies,refertotheUnionCountySchoolBoardPolicyManual,
copiesofwhichareavailableforreviewineachoftheschoolofficesandintheofficeofthe
CountySuperintendentofEducation.
Referencetothehandbookbystudents,parents,andstaffisrecommendedasasourceof
informationonguidelinesforoperationalproceduresofourschools.Studentsandparents
areaskedtoreadandkeepthehandbookforreferencefortheentire2015-2016schoolyear.
Thehandbookisreviewedannually.Thepoliciesandproceduresaresubjecttoamendment
andrevisionbytheUnionCountyBoardofEducation.
TheUnionCountySchoolDistrictisincompliancewithTitleVIoftheCivilRightsActof1962,
includingregulationsinvocationaleducation;TitleIXoftheEducationAmendmentsof1972;
Section504oftheRehabilitationActof1973;theFamilyEducationalRightsandPrivacyActof
1974;andtheAmericanwithDisabilitiesAct.
Districtpolicyassuresthatnooneshall,onthegroundsofrace,color,age,religion,natural
origin,sex,disability,geneticinformation,pregnancy,orhandicap,beexcludedfrom
participationin,bedeniedthebenefitsof,orotherwisebesubjectedtodiscriminationinany
programoractivityoftheschooldistrict.
INTRODUCTION
ByregisteringyourchildorchildrenoranystudentintheUnionCountySchoolDistrict,
allparents,legalguardians,andstudentsdoherebyconsenttoandagreetoobeyand
followrulesandregulationscontainedinthishandbookandsuchotheroraldirections
ofschooladministratorsorteachersasmaybenecessarytocarryouttheorderly
educationalprogressoftheschool.Allparents,legalguardians,andstudentsagreeand
areherebyinformedthatallstudentsoftheUnionCountySchoolDistrictaresubjectto
questioningorbeingtakenintoofficialcustodywhileatschoolbyanyappropriately
appointedlawenforcementofficialordepartmentofhumanservicesagent
investigatinganofficialcaseuponoralorwrittencourtorder.

AdmissionRequirements
(1)EntranceAgeRequirements:
(A) Nochildshallbeenrolledoradmittedtokindergartenunlessthatchildwillbefive
yearsofageonorbeforeSeptember1stofthecurrentschoolyear.
(B) Nochildshallbeenrolledoradmittedtothefirstgradeunlessthatchildwillbesix
yearsofageonorbeforeSeptember1stofthecurrentschoolyear.
(C) Anychildwhotransfersfromanout-of-stateschoolinwhichthatstate’slaw
providesforafirstgradeorkindergartenenrollmentbeforeSeptember1stshallbe
allowedtoenrollinschoolatthesamegradelevelstheprovidingfollowingfour
statementsaretrue:
1. The parent/guardian of the child was a legal resident of the state from
whichthechildistransferring.
2. Theout-of-stateschoolfromwhichthechildistransferringis
dulyaccreditedbythatstate’sappropriateaccreditingauthority.
3. Thechildwaslegallyenrolledinschoolforaminimumoffourweeksinthe
previousstate.
4. Theprincipalorhisdesigneehasdeterminedthatthechildwasmaking
satisfactoryeducationalprogressinthepreviousstate.
(2)InitialEnrollment:
(A) BirthCertificates:Allnewstudentsshallsubmitacertifiedbirthcertificate(long
formversion)uponenrollment.Theprincipalmayallowstudentstoattendschool
foraperiodoftimenottoexceedthirtydaysbeforethebirthcertificateis
presented.Thedistrictmayrevoketheadmissionoforsuspendstudentswhoare
notincompliancethirtydaysfromthedateofenrollment.
(B) ImmunizationRequirements:StudentsenrollingintheUnionCountySchoolDistrict
mustpresentaMississippiCertificateofComplianceregardingvaccinations.Valid
certificatesincludethefollowing:Form121(CertificateofCompliance),Form121-A
(MedicalExemptionForm),andForm121-T(TemporaryCompliance
Certificate).NOTE:The121-Tisnotvalidafterthedateshown.
(3)LegalGuardianship:
(A)Anyoneotherthanthenaturalparent(s)enrollingastudentmustprovidelegal
documentationappointinghim/herasguardian.Ifapetitionforguardianshiphasbeen
filedandthedecreeispending,acertifiedcopyofthefiledpetitionmustbe
provided.TheUnionCountySchoolDistrictdoesnotrecognizenotarizedaffidavitsor
powerofattorneyordersasproofofguardianshipforenrollingstudents.
(B)Incasesofdivorce,finaldocumentationofthedivorceproceedingsshould
bepresenteduponenrollmentsothatlegalcustodialrightscanbedeterminedand
adheredtobyschoolofficials.

(4)VerificationofResidence
Uponenrollmentandannually,anyparentseekingtoenrollastudentmustverify
residencybysubmittingtwoofthefollowingitems:

NONRESIDENTSTUDENTS
TheBoardadherestoprovisionssetforthinstatestatuesandBoardPolicyJBCDAconcerning
nonresidentstudents.
Admissionforout-of-districtstudentswillincludeananalysisofgrades,behaviorand
absenteeism.Thestudentmustnothaveanacademicgradebelowa"C"inordertobe
consideredfortransfertotheUnionCountySchoolDistrict.Ascreeningcommitteecomposedof
theCentralOfficeAdministrator,Principal,andGuidanceCounselorwillreviewandmust
approvetheaboveitemsbeforeacceptanceintheDistrict.Theparent(s)orguardian(s)ofthe
studentrequestingtransfermustprovideanyandalldocumentationrequestedbythescreening
committee.
Admissionforout-of-districtstudentscurrentlyunderanyformofdisciplinaryactionwillbe
consideredforadmissionintotheUnionCountySchooldistrictfollowingahearingbeforethe
aforementionedcommitteeortheUnionCountyBoardofEducationorahearingofficer
appointedbytheBoard.Iftheyshouldfindthereasonforthedisciplinaryactionwassufficient
andgoodcause,theBoardmayrefusetoadmitthestudent.
Out-of-districtstudentsadmittedtotheUnionCountySchoolDistrictwillberequiredupon
admissiontopayannualtuitionfeesinfullaccordingtothescalebelow.Failuretopaythe
tuitionfeeswillresultintherejectionofthetransferofthesaidstudent.Tuitionmustbepaid
priortoenrollmentofstudent.

Noonewillbegrandfatheredinthatispresentlyattendingtheschooldistrictthatisverifiedas
anout-of-districtstudent.Areviewofeachout-of-districtstudent'sgrades,behaviorand
attendancewillbereviewedandapprovedonanannualbasisbeforereadmissionforthe
followingyear.Parentsofout-of-districtstudentswillbenotifiedofproblemsduringtheschool
yearandtheadmissionofsaidstudentintheUnionCountySchoolDistrictcouldberevoked.
Out-of-districtstudentsofDistrictemployees,licensedandnon-licensed,mayhavetuitionfees
waived,providedallotherprovisionsofnonresidentstudentadmissionsaremet.

TheUnionCountySchoolDistrictwillnotacceptout-of-districtstudentswho:
• Causethedistrictanadditionaloutlayoffundsbeyondthatwhichistypicalforallstudents
• RequireservicesorprogramsthattheUCSDdoesnothave
• Causetheexpansionofaprogramthatwouldrequireadditionalexpenditures
• Causethedistrictanadditionalfinancialoradministrativeburden
Intheeventthesendingdistrictdoesnothaveanappropriateprogramforastudent,butthe
UCSDhasanappropriateprogramwithspaceavailable,thesendingschooldistrictshallpayany
additionalcostassociatedwitheducatingthechild.Ifthesendingdistrictiswillingtorelease
thestudentandcontractuallyagreetopaytheadditionalcostassociatedwiththeeducationof
thechild,regardlessofwhenthosecostsarefullyunderstood,thatstudentmaybeacceptedby
UCSD.
DuetoanincreaseintheKindergartenProgramandaninabilitytotrackahistoryofattendance,
discipline,andacademicachievement,theadministrationwillhavewidelatitudeinits
considerationofacceptanceforKindergartenstudents.

ACCESSTOSTUDENTINFORMATION
Congresshaspassedlegislationthatrequireshighschoolstoprovidemilitaryrecruiters,upon
request,accesstosecondaryschoolstudentsanddirectoryinformationonthosestudents.Both
theNoChildLeftBehindActof2001andtheNationalDefenseAuthorizationActforFY2002
reflectstheserequirements.
Inaccordancewiththeseacts,militaryrecruitersareentitledtoreceivethename,address,and
telephonelistingofhighschooljuniorsandseniors.Providingthisinformationisconsistentwith
theFamilyEducationalRightsandPrivacyAct.Studentdirectoryinformationwillbeused
specificallyforarmedservicesrecruitingpurposesandforinformingyoungpeopleofscholarship
opportunities.
VISITORS
Aparent/guardianorschoolvendoriswelcomeonUnionCountycampuses;however;allvisitors
arerequiredto“check-in”attheofficeuponarrivaltocampus.Inorderthatthenormal
classroomatmospherewillexist,aUnionCountystudentwillnotbeallowedtobringavisitor,
relative,friend,orchildtoschoolforanypartoftheschoolday.
COMPULSORYATTENDANCE
Acompulsoryschool-agechildisdefinedasachildwhohasattainedorwillattaintheageofsix
yearsonorbeforeSeptember1stofthecalendaryearandwhohasattainedtheageof
seventeenyearsonorbeforeSeptember1stofthecalendaryear.Thisalsoincludesanychild
whohasattainedorwillattaintheageoffiveyearsonorbeforeSeptember1standhasenrolled
inkindergarten.Studentsexcludedfromthisrequirementarethosedeterminedtobeincapable
ofschoolattendancebyschoolofficialsasbasedonmedicaldocumentation,anidentifiable

handicappingcondition,oranapprovedhomeinstructionprogramasdeterminedbytheschool
attendanceofficer.
Ifacompulsoryschool-agechildhasnotbeenenrolledinschoolwithinfifteencalendardays
afterthefirstdayoftheschoolyear,theprincipalorhisdesigneeshallreportsuchabsencesto
theschoolattendanceofficer.
ATTENDANCE
Regularschoolattendanceiscrucialforstudentstoobtainmaximumbenefitsfromschool.The
MississippiPublicSchoolAccountabilityStandardsspecifiesthattheawardingofCarnegieunits
ingrades8-12bebasedonaspecificnumberofhoursofinstructionandthenumberofhours
thatstudentsareengagedinthisinstruction.Theeducationalneedsofstudentsarebestmet
whentheyarepresentintheclassroom.Allstudents(includingseniors)mustbeinattendance
for63%oftheinstructionaldaytobecountedpresentforthatday.Thefollowingattendance
policyreflectsthisbelief:
(1) MaximumNumberofAbsencesAllowed:Studentswillbeallowedthree(3)parentnotes
persemestertocountasexcusedabsences.Anythingbeyondthree(3)parent-excused
absencesinasemesterwillbeunexcusedunlessamedicalexcuseisprovided.Students
whoaccumulatethreeunexcusedabsencesinanynineweekgradingperiodwillbe
disciplinedthroughISS,detention,oramannerdeemedappropriatebyschool
administration.Unexcusedabsenceswillcounttowardthiswhethertheyareone
periodoranentireday.
(2) DefinitionofAbsences:Studentabsenceswillbeclassifiedaccordingtothefollowing
conditions:
(A)AdministrativeAbsences:
(a) Attendanceofanauthorizedschoolactivitywithprioradministrativeapproval(field
trips,athleticcontests,studentconventions,musicalfestivals,etc.)
(b) Visitationbyseniorstotheseniororcommunitycollegeofhis/herchoice.
(Seniorswillbeallowedonecollegedayperyear.)
(c) Attendanceatthecourtproceedingsifthestudentisapartytotheactionorunder
subpoenaasawitness
(d) NOTE:Administrativeabsenceswillnotbeenteredintothestudent’sattendance
records.
(B)ExcusedAbsences:

(e) Priorapprovalfromprincipal
(C)UnexcusedAbsences:
Anyabsencefromclassorschoolnotproperlyexcusedwillbeconsideredanunexcused
absence.Anunexcusedabsencemaybeforaperiodoranypartoftheschooldayorforthe
entireschoolday.Failuretopresentawrittenexcusewithinthree(3)schooldaysafter
returningtoschoolwillresultinanunexcusedabsence.Thewrittenexcuseshouldcontainthe
date(s)thestudentwasabsent;nameofthestudent;thecauseoftheabsence;thesignatureof
theparent,guardian,ormedicalprovider;andphonenumberwheretheparent,guardian,or
medicalprovidercanbereached.Fromisavailableintheappendixofthishandbookandonour

(3)Make-upWork:
Ifanabsenceisexcused,studentswillhavethenumberofdaysabsentplusone-daytoturnin
allmake-upwork.Itisastudent’sresponsibilitytocontacteachteacherandmake
arrangementstocompletemake-upworkuponreturningtoschool.Ifanabsenceisunexcused,
astudentwillreceiveagradeofzeroforallworkmissed.Astudentthathasbeensuspended
hastherighttomakeupanyassignmentsthatwasmissedduringsuspension.
(4)Tardiness:
Astudentistardyifhe/shearrivesinclassaftertheclassperiodhasbegunorthetardybellhas
sounded.Ifastudentreportstoclassmorethantenminutesafterthetardybellrings,the
studentisconsideredtobeabsent.Ifastudentislessthantenminuteslate,he/sheis
consideredtardy.Alltardiesmustberecordedbeforethestudentisadmittedtoclass.Any
studentwhoreceivesthreeormoretardiesinasemestermaybeadministeredcorporal
punishment,assignedtodetention,placedinISS,suspendedfromschool,surrenderdriving
privilegesordisciplinedinamannerdeemedappropriatebytheprincipal.Also,anystudent
whoaccumulatesthreetardiesinaclasswillbegivenanunexcusedabsenceforthatclass.
StudentsingradesK-6whodonotridethebusandarelatetoschoolwillnotbeallowedto
reporttoclassunlesstheirparent/guardiansignstheminattheoffice.Also,parentswho
consistentlybringtheirchildtoschoollateorpicktheirchildrenupearlymaybereportedtothe
DepartmentofHumanServicesforinquirytodeterminewhethersuchactionsonthepartofthe
parent/guardianconstitute“neglect,”asdefinedbylaw.
(5)Truancy:
Ifacompulsoryschoolagechildhasnotbeenenrolledinschoolwithinfifteencalendardays
afterthefirstdayoftheschoolyearorifastudenthasaccumulatedfiveunexcusedabsences
duringtheschoolyear,theprincipalorhisdesigneeshallreportsuchabsencestotheschool
attendanceofficerwithintwoschooldaysorfivecalendardays,whicheverisless.Forany
studentwhosefamilyisreceivingassistancefromtheDepartmentofHumanServices(food
stampsorTANF),aDHSreferralwillbemadebytheattendanceofficeraftertwounexcused
absences.Uponthisreferral,assistancemaybecutbyupto25%.

Theschoolattendanceofficerwillinvestigateunexcusedabsencesofstudentswhoare
compulsoryschoolage.Ifastudentofcompulsoryageaccumulatesatotaloftenunexcused
absencesduringtheschoolyear,he/shemaybeassignedtothealternativeschoolforaperiod
ofnineweeks.Anynumberofsubsequentunexcusedabsencesmayresultinthestudentbeing
placedinthealternativeschoolforanothernineweeks.
Studentswhoarefoundtobetruantwillbesubjecttothefollowing:
(1) 1stinfraction–threedayinschoolsuspensionpluslossofdrivingprivilegesforthreeweeks,
ifapplicable
(2) 2ndinfraction–sixdayinschoolsuspensionpluslossofdrivingprivilegesfornineweeks,if
applicable
(3) 3rdinfraction–tendayinschoolsuspensionpluslossofdrivingprivilegesforonecalendar
yearifapplicable
WITHDRAWALFROMSCHOOL
WhenitbecomesnecessaryforastudenttowithdrawfromUnionCountySchools,theparent
willreporttotheprincipal’sdesigneeandrequestawithdrawalform.Theparentwillcomplete
theformandreturnittotheproperschoolpersonnel.Theofficialrecordsofthestudentwillbe
releasedoncethewithdrawalformiscompleteandreturnedandanofficialwrittenrequestby
thetransferschoolhasbeenreceived.
ARRIVALATSCHOOL
Parents/Guardiansareaskednottodropoffstudentsatschoolanyearlierthan7:30a.m.Also,
studentswhodrivetoschoolarenottoreportoncampusbefore7:30a.m.Studentsarenot
permittedtoremaininautomobilesandarenotallowedtoassembleintheparkinglotupon
arrivaltoschool.Also,onceastudentarrivesoncampus,he/sheisnottoleavecampusunless
he/sheproperlychecksoutattheoffice.
CHECKOUTPROCEDURE
Astudentwillreporttotheofficewhenitbecomesnecessarytoleaveschool.Failuretoreport
totheofficebeforeleavingcampusearlywillbeconstruedasskippingclass.Proper
authorizationtoleaveschoolincludesthefollowing:Astudentwillsubmitawrittennotefrom
theparent/guardianindicatingthetimeofdismissal,nameofthestudent,reasonfordismissal,
telephonenumberoftheparent/guardian,andthesignatureoftheparent/guardian.Thenote
willbeverifiedbyschoolpersonnelbeforedismissalisextendedtothestudent.Intheabsence
ofawrittennote,theparent/guardianorhis/herdesigneewillreporttotheschoolandcheck
thestudentoutofschoolormakephonecontactwiththeschool.Namesofanyonewhowillbe
checkingoutstudentsmustbelistedonthestudentregistrationforminordertocheckthe
studentout.Schoolpersonnelreservetherighttorefusedismissalduetoincomplete
information.Dismissalsmustbearrangedpriortothebeginningoftheschoolday.

Leavingschoolwithouttheproperauthorizationwillresultinthefollowing:

TheUnionCountySchoolDistrictdoesnotacceptdeliveriestostudentsatthelocalschool
level.Studentscarryingdelivereditemsthroughoutthedayandonbusesareadistractionfor
otherstudentsandstaff.Also,someparentsarenotabletoafforddeliveriesfortheir
children.Thisinequalityoftenfostershurtfeelingsandnegativeattitudestowardsthosewho
arelessfortunate.
DRESSCODE
Itisvirtuallyimpossibletowriteadressandgroomingcode,whichwilladdresseverydetailand
aspectofappropriatedressandgrooming;therefore,itmaybecomenecessaryforthebuilding
administrationtomakeajudgmentastowhetherastudentisproperlygroomedand/or
dressed.Astudentwhoisnotappropriatelygroomedorwhoisattiredinamannerthatis
detrimentaland/ordistractivetotheschoolenvironmentshallberequiredtomake
arrangementsformoresuitableorappropriatedress.Ifthearrangementformoresuitable
clothingrequiresthestudenttobeabsentfromclass,theabsencewillbedesignatedas

alcohol,tobacco,orviolence,shallnotbeworn.Anydressorattirethatlocallaw
enforcementofficialsdeemgangrelatedshallnotbeworn.
(F) Looseand/orsaggingpants,slacks,andshortsfallingbelowthewaistare
prohibited.Jeansmaynothaveholes.Shirtsdonothavetobetuckedinsideof
pants.Hats,caps,bandanas,andotherheadcoveringsarenottobebroughtto
school.Theonlyexceptionisifthecapispartofthelocalschool’sathleticuniform
wornattheactualevent.Thepenaltyforbringingahatorcaptoschoolis
confiscation.Thehatorcapwillbereturnedtothestudentuponcompletionofthe
schoolyear.
(G) Picks,combs,pencils,androllersshallnotbeworninthehair.
(H) Studentsshallnotwearpiercingringsand/orstudsintheirnoses,tongues,
eyebrows,orotherexposedbodyparts.Femalesmaywearalimitofthree(3)
earringsperearlobe.Malestudentsshallnotwearpiercingrings,studs,orany
otherforeignobjectsinanyexposedbodypart.Visibletattoosareprohibited.
(I) Studentsshallnothavefacialhairofanykind.
(J) Boys’ hair shall be tapered on the sides and in the back, with the length off
thecollar. The sides shall not extend below the bottom of the earlobe and the
front must not impede the vision of the eyes. All students shall not have any
outrageoushaircutwhichincludemohawks,spikes,unnaturalorextremecoloring,
coloredhairextensions,etc.

CAREOFSCHOOLPROPERTY
ThebuildingsandequipmentoftheschooldistrictareprovidedbythecitizensofUnion
County.Itistheresponsibilityofeachstudenttoexercisecareintheuseofbuildings,grounds,
equipment,andmaterials.Anystudentdestroying,defacing,ormarringschoolpropertywillbe
expectedtopaythecostofrepairsorreplacement.Astudent’sfailingtopaythesecostsmaybe
suspended,recommendedtoalternativeschool,orexpelleduntilheorshedoespay.Parents
maybeheldliablefordamages.

TheUniformCodeofDisciplinewasdevelopedtoestablishasystemthatwouldfacilitatean
environmentofgooddisciplineinafairandconsistentmanner.Thecodefollowstheguidelines
establishedbytheStateofMississippi.
Definitions:
CorporalPunishment-Studentreceivesapaddlingofnomorethanthreelicks
Corporalpunishmentispermittedasadisciplinarymeasureinaccordancewithstatelaw.The
followingregulationsshallgoverntheadministeringofcorporalpunishment:(a)itshouldbe
administeredafterothermeasureshavefailedtoproducethedesiredresults(b)itshouldbe
reasonableandnotadministeredinamaliciousmanner(c)itmaybeadministeredbythe
principal,amemberofhis/heradministrativestaffortheteacherwithacertifiedemployeewill
witnesstheevent(d)shouldbeadministeredawayfromtheviewofotherstudentsand(e)
refusalofcorporalpunishmentbythestudentwillresultinspecificsuspensionwhichwill
constituteanunexcusedabsence.Whencorporalpunishmentisadministered,studentswillbe
givenadisciplinaryreferraltotaketotheparent(s).
Atthebeginningofeachschoolyear,parentshavetheresponsibilitytorequestinwritingthat
corporalpunishmentnotbeadministeredtotheirchildorchildren.Schoolofficialswillattempt
tocomplywitheveryrequest;however,MississippiLawpermitscorporalpunishmenttobe
appliedasadisciplinaryactionforMississippiPublicSchoolstudents.
Detention-Studentlosesfreetime-before,during,orafterschoolhours
InSchoolSuspension(ISS)-Studentisassignedtoanareaawayfromtheregularclassroom.In
somecasesextra-curricularactivitiesmayberestrictedorlimited.ISSwillbeanallday
detention7:45–3:00.
SchoolSuspension-Studentisoutofschoolforadesignatedperiodoftime.Studentswhoare
suspendedarerestrictedfromallschoolpropertyandmaynotattendaschoolfunctiononor
offthecampus.

AlternativeSchool-Studentattendsaself-containedclassoffcampusforaperiodof
time.Studentswhoareassignedalternativeschoolarerestrictedfromallschoolpropertyand
maynotattendaschoolfunctiononoroffcampus.
Expulsion-Student’srightsandprivilegesofattendingschoolaresuspendedforaspecifictime
period.Expelledstudentsmaynotgoontoschoolpropertyatanytime.Iftheydo,theywillbe
arrestedandchargedwithtrespassing.

STUDENT/EMPLOYEEBULLYING
StudentsandemployeesintheUnionCountySchoolDistrictareprotectedfrombullyingor
harassingbehaviorbyotherstudentsoremployees.ItistheintentoftheBoardandthe
administrationtomaintainanenvironmentfrombullyingandharassingbehavior.This
complaintprocedureprovidesaprocessforfiling,processingandresolvingcomplaintsofsuch
conduct.
Adherencetotheseproceduresismandatory.Thefailureofanypersontofollowthese
procedureswillconstituteawaiveroftherighttopursueacomplaintatanylevel,including
reviewbytheBoard.
I.
Definitions
BullyingorharassingbehaviorisanyPATTERNofgestures,written,electronicorverbal
communications,anyphysicalact,anythreateningcommunication,oranyactreasonably
perceivedasbeingmotivatedbyanyactualorperceiveddifferentiatingcharacteristicthat(a)
placesastudentorschoolemployeeinactualandreasonablefearorharmtohis/herpersonor
damagetohis/herproperty,or(b)createsoriscertaintocreateahostileenvironmentby
substantiallyinterferingwithorimpairingastudent’seducationalperformance,opportunitiesor
benefits.
A“hostileenvironment”meansthatthevictimsubjectivelyviewstheconductasbullyingor
harassingbehaviorandtheconductisobjectivelysevereorpervasiveenoughthatareasonable
personwouldagreethatitisbullyingorharassingbehavior.
Bullyingorharassingbehaviorwillnotbecondonedortoleratedwhenittakesplaceonschool
property,atanyschool-sponsoredfunction,oronaschoolbus,orwhenittakesplaceoffschool
propertywhensuchconduct,inthedeterminationoftheschoolsuperintendentorprincipal,
renderstheoffendingperson’spresenceintheclassroomadisruptiontotheeducational
environmentoftheschooloradetrimenttothebestinterestandwelfareofthepupilsand
teacherofsuchclassasawhole.
Ifanypersonhasinhis/herpossessionanytypeofelectronicdevicewhichrecordsandsaid
deviceisusedwiththeintentandpurposeofrecordingactivityonschoolgrounds,school
transportationoranyschoolfunctionwiththeintentofantagonizinganotherperson,he/she
willbeconsideredinviolationofthispolicy.Intimidation,threatening,harassmentorbullying
willnotbetolerated.
II.
ProceduresforProcessingaComplaint
Anystudent,schoolemployeeorvolunteerwhofeelshe/shehasbeenavictimofbullyingor
harassingbehavior,orhaswitnessesorwhohasreliableinformationthatastudent,school
employeeorvolunteerhasbeensubjecttobullyingorharassingbehaviorshallreportsuch
conducttoateacher,principal,counselororotherschoolofficial.Thereportshallbemade
promptlybutnolaterthanfive(5)calendardaysaftertheallegedactoractsoccurred.The
schoolofficialshallcompletea“Bullying/HarassingBehavior”complaintformwhichshallinclude
thenameofthereportingperson,thespecificnatureanddateofthemisconduct,thenamesof
thevictimofthemisconduct,thenamesofanywitnessesandanyotherinformationthatwould

assistintheinvestigationofthecomplaint.Thereportshallbegivenpromptlytotheprincipal
orsuperintendentwhoshallinstituteanimmediateinvestigation.Complaintsagainstthe
principalshallbemadetothesuperintendentandcomplaintsagainstthesuperintendentshall
bemadetotheboardchairman.
Thecomplaintshallbeinvestigatedpromptly.Parentswillbenotifiedofthenatureofany
complaintinvolvingtheirstudent.Thedistrictofficialwillarrangesuchmeetingsasmaybe
necessarywithallconcernedpartieswithinfive(5)workingdaysafterinitialreceiptofthe
complaintbythedistrict.Thepartieswillhaveanopportunitytosubmitevidenceandalistof
witnesses.Allfindingsrelatedtothecomplaintwillbereducedtowriting.Thedistrictofficial
conductingtheinvestigationshallnotifythevictimandparentsasappropriatewhenthe
investigationiscompletedandadecisionregardingdisciplinaryaction,aswarranted,is
determined.
Ifthevictimisnotsatisfiedwiththedecisionofthedistrictofficial,he/shemaysubmitawritten
appealtothesuperintendent.Suchappealshallbefiledwithinten(10)workingdaysafter
receiptoftheresultsoftheinitialdecision.Thesuperintendentwillarrangesuchmeetingswith
thevictimandotheraffectedpartiesasdeemednecessarytodiscusstheappeal.The
superintendentshallprovideawrittendecisiontothevictim’sappealwithinten(10)working
days.
Ifthevictimisnotsatisfiedwiththedecisionofthesuperintendent,awrittenappealmaybe
filedwiththeboard.Suchappealshallbefiledwithinten(10)workingdaysafterreceiptofthe
decisionofthesuperintendent.Theboardshall,withintwenty(20)workingdays,allowthe
victimandparentsasappropriatetoappearbeforetheboardtopresentreasonsfor
dissatisfactionwiththedecisionofthesuperintendent.Theboardshallprovideawritten
decisionwithinten(10)workingdaysfollowingthevictim’sappearancebeforetheboard.
INTERNETACCESSACCEPTABLEUSEPOLICY
UnionCountySchoolDistrict(UCSD)providestheprivilegeofInternetaccesstodistrictfaculty,
staff,students,andoccasionallyguests.Eachuser,aswellasminor’sparentorguardian,
voluntarilyagreestorelease,holdharmless,defend,andindemnify,theUnionCountySchool
District,itsofficers,boardmembers,employees,andagents,forandagainstallclaims,actions,
charges,lossesordamageswhichariseoutoftheuser’suseoftheUCSDnetwork,butnot
limitedtonegligence,personalinjury,wrongfuldeath,propertylossordamage,delays,nondeliveries,mis-deliveriesofdata,orserviceinterruptions.UCSDwillfullycooperatewithlocal,
stateorfederalofficialsinanyinvestigationrelatedtoillegalactivitiesconductedthroughthe
user’sInternetaccount.
AccesswillberestrictedasrequiredtocomplywiththeChildren’sInternetProtectionAct
(BoardPolicyIJB).Webbrowsingmaybemonitoredandrecordsretainedtoensurecompliance.
Usersareexpectedtorespectthewebfilterandshallnotattempttocircumventthefilterwhen
browsingtheInternet.Thedeterminationofwhethermaterialisappropriateorinappropriateis
basedsolelyonthecontentofthematerialandtheintendeduseofmaterial,notonwhethera
websitehasbeenblockedornot.Ifauserbelievesasiteisunnecessarilyblocked,theuser
shouldsubmitatechnologyworkorderthroughtheschoolofficetoreviewthesite.

Eachuseracknowledgesthattheinformationavailablefromotherwebsitesmaynotbe
accurate.UseofanyoftheinformationobtainedviatheInternetisattheuser’sownrisk.
UnionCountySchoolDistrictmakesnowarrantyofanykind,eitherexpressedorimplied,
regardingthequality,accuracy,orvalidityofthedataontheInternet.
UCSDNETWORKRULES
• ThepersontowhomanUCSDnetworkaccountisissuedisresponsibleatalltimesforits
properuse.
• Anyinappropriateusemayresultinthecancellationoftheprivilegeofuse,and/or
disciplinaryaction.ConsequencesforanyuserwhofailstocomplywithUCSDand
schoolguidelinesmayincludepayingfordamages,denialofaccesstotechnology,
detention,suspension,expulsion,orotherremediesapplicableundertheschool
disciplinarypolicy,andstateorfederallaw.
• AnydistrictemployeewhousestheUCSDnetworkinappropriatelyissubjectto
disciplinaryaction,includingdismissal.
• UndernoconditionsshouldaUCSDnetworkusergivetheirpasswordinformationto
anotherusernorallowanotherusertoutilizetheiraccountinformationunlessspeaking
directlytoatechnologydepartmentemployeewhoisassistingthem.
• SchoolsmaysupplementanyprovisionsoftheDistrictAUP(AcceptableUsePolicy),and
mayrequireadditionalparentreleasesandapprovals,butinnocasewillsuch
documentsreplacetheDistrictAUP.
• Userswillimmediatelyreporttoschooldistrictauthoritiesanyattemptbyother
networkuserstoengageininappropriateconversationsorpersonalcontact.
• Anynon-standardsoftwarethatisneededtoperformaspecificjobfunctionwillneedto
bebroughttotheattentionoftheTechnologyDepartment.Thoseapplicationsshallbe
thesoleresponsibilityofthatofficeandiftheapplicationinterfereswithanyrequired
programs,applications,andutilities,itshouldnotbeusedandifinuse,itmaybe
disabled.
ACCEPTABLEUSESOFTECHNOLOGY(notallinclusive)
Aresponsibleuserofthetechnologywill:
• Useschooltechnologiesforschool-relatedactivities.
• Followthesameguidelinesforrespectful,responsiblebehavioronlinethattheyare
expectedtofollowoffline.
• Treatschoolresourcescarefullyandalertstaffifthereisanyproblemwiththeir
operation.
• Encouragepositive,constructivediscussionifallowedtousecommunicativeor
collaborativetechnologies.
• Alertateacher,administrator,orotherstaffmemberiftheyseethreatening,
inappropriate,orharmfulcontent(images,messages,posts)online.
• UseDistricttechnologiesatappropriatetimes,inapprovedplaces,foreducational
pursuits.

andoriginatinguserscanbeheldliableiftheiruseofnetworkviolatesanyestablishedpolicy,
regulation,orlaw.Anydatastoredondistrict-ownedequipmentmaybearchivedand
preservedbythedistrictforanindefiniteperiod.Suchdataincludes,butisnotlimitedtoEmail,textdocuments,digitalphotographs,music,andotherdigitalorelectronicfiles.Ifa
particularworkstationcontinuestotrytoconnecttoaninappropriatesite,thatworkstationwill
beremotelymonitoredandtheindividualusingthatworkstationwillbereportedtothe

UCSDnetwork,theUCSDInternetconnection,and/orprivatenetworks/Internetconnections

EMAIL
UnionCountySchoolDistrictprovidesfaculty,staffandstudentsingrades7-12withthe
privilegeofemailaccountsforthepurposeofschool-relatedcommunication.Availabilityand
usemayberestrictedbasedonschoolpolicies.
Usersprovidedwithemailaccountsshouldusetheseaccountswithcare.Usersshouldnotsend
personalinformationandshouldattempttoopenfilesorfollowlinksfromunknownor
untrustedorigins.Usersshoulduseappropriatelanguageandshouldonlycommunicatewith

EMAILANDELECTRONICDOCUMENTRETENTION
Allemailsandelectronicdocumentscreatedandsharedwithothersinsideoroutsidethe
DistrictinconductingDistrictbusinessshouldbesavedinuser-desigantedfoldersontheuser’s
computer.AllDistrictemployeeemailwillbearchivedforaminimumofoneyear.AllDistrict
employeesandstudentsinGrades7-12willbeissuedaDistrictemailaccount.Anyofficial
communications,e.g.teachertoparent,teachertostudent,studenttoteacher,stafftostaff,
mustbeviatheDistrict’semailsystem.Thisincludes,butisnotlimitedto,teacherswhoguide
extracurricularactivitiessuchasclubs,choirs,bands,athleticteams,etc.Districtemployees,
whogeneratenewsletters,memoranda,slideshows,graphics,etc.withtheirworkstations,

UsersshouldalwaysusetheInternet,networkresources,andonlinesitesinacourteousand

conductingresearchviatheInternet.

a.“Cellphone”shallincludepagingdevicesandallothertypesoftelecommunicationsand/or
electronicdeviceandaccessories,withtheexceptionofsmartphonesusedfortheBYOD
program.
b.“Useofacellphone”includesanyincomingoroutgoingcall,textmessage,message
waiting,page,ormeansofcommunicatingelectronically.
c.“BYOD”istheBringYourOwnDeviceprogramthatenablesstudentstousetheir
personalelectronicdevices(laptops,tablets,smartphones)forsanctionededucational
purposes.
d.“PED”isanypersonalelectronicdeviceincludinglaptops,tablets,smartphones,and
allothertypesoftelecommunicationsand/orelectronicdevicesandaccessories.
2.StudentsandstaffwillnowbeabletoaccesstheUCSDwirelessnetworkwiththeirPEDs
duringtheschoolday.Withclassroomteacherapproval(usingbothverbalandvisualsignals
recommendedbytheprincipal),studentsmayusetheirPEDstoaccesstheInternetand
collaboratewithotherstudents.
3.AccesstotheDistrict’selectroniccommunicationssystemisaprivilege,notaright.Allusers
arerequiredtoacknowledgereceiptandunderstandingofalladministrativeregulations
governinguseofthesystemandshallagreeinwritingtocomplywithsuchregulationsand
guidelines.Noncompliancewithapplicableregulationsmayresultinsuspensionortermination
ofprivilegesandotherdisciplinaryactionconsistentwithDistrictpolicies.Students,staff,
volunteers,parentsandallPEDusersarerequiredtocomplywiththeUCSDAcceptableUse
Policy,whichoutlinesunacceptableusesofelectronicinformationresources("EIR").The
Districtisnotliableforanydamage,injuryto,orconsequencesarisingfromuseofaPEDoutside
oftheDistrictEIR.
4.Intheeventofanemergencyconditionthatmayrequiretheneedforacellphone,the
principalordesigneewillprovidespecificwrittenapprovalandinstructionsforuseofacell
phone.
5.Underspecialcircumstances,includingundertheBYODprogram,ateachermayallow
studentsinhis/herclasstousetheircellphonesduringthatclassonly,solelyforpurposes
relatingtotheeducationalobjectivesofthatclass,andonlyuponspecificverbalandvisual
instructionbytheteacher.Examplesofappropriateusesincludebutarenotlimitedtonotating
assignmentsinthedevice’scalendarfunction,utilizingthecalculatorfunction,memofunction,

etc.Improperuseorusingthedeviceaftertheeducationalobjectivehasbeencompletedwillbe
consideredaviolationofthispolicyandwillsubjectstudentstotheappropriateconsequences.
6.Violations:
a.CellphonesandPEDsusedinviolationofthispolicymaybeconfiscatedandthe
parent/guardianofthestudentwillbenotified.Theschoolmayretaintheconfiscated
deviceuntilthestudenthascompletedthedisciplineimposed,afterwhichitwillbe
returnedtotheparent/guardian.
b.Uponasecondoffenseunderthispolicy,theschoolmayretainthedeviceuntilthe
endofthesemesteranduponcompletionofthedisciplineimposed.Ifthe
parent/guardiandoesnotreclaimthedevicewithinthirty(30)daysoftheendofthe
semester,theschoolwilldonateordisposeofthedevice.
c.Shoulditbedeterminedthatthecontentsofastudent’scellphoneorPEDshouldbe
viewedorsearched,theadministratorswillcontacttheschoolresourceofficerorlaw
enforcementofficertoconductsuchsearch.Students’privacyrightsmaybelimitedas
tothecontentcontainedonanydevicethathasbeenconfiscated.
d.Violationsoflawmayresultincriminalprosecutionaswellasdisciplinaryactionby
theDistrict.
DRUG-FREESCHOOLS
Anystudentwho,whileunderschoolsupervision,hasinhis/herpossessionanyalcoholic
beverage,illegaldrug,orothermaterial(possessionofwhichispunishablebylaw)willbe
subjecttothestrictestdisciplinaryactionavailable.Also,anystudentsuspectedofbeingunder
theinfluenceofalcoholordrugsissubjecttobeingdrugtestedandlawenforcementofficials
willbenotifiedoftheillegalactivity.
Alcoholuse:
Nostudent,regardlessofage,shallpossess,consume,purchase,ordistributeanyalcoholic
beverageonschoolproperty,atanyplacewhereaninterscholasticathleticcontestistaking
place,duringthecourseofanyfieldtrip,orduringthecourseofanytriporactivitysponsored
bytheUnionCountyBoardofEducationoritsauthorizedagents.Likewise,nostudentshallaid,
abet,assist,orconcealthepossession,consumption,purchase,ordistributionofanyalcoholic
beveragebyanyotherstudent(s)onschoolproperty,atanyplacewhereaninterscholastic
athleticcontestistakingplace,duringthecourseofanyfieldtrip,orduringthecourseofany
triporactivitysponsoredbytheUnionCountySchoolBoardofEducationoritsauthorized
agents.
Anystudentwhoviolatesthispolicyshallbesubjecttodisciplinaryaction,thenatureandextent
ofwhichmayconsistofoneormoreofthefollowing:athreetotendaysuspensionfromthe
schoolanditsactivities,expulsionforonesemesterorlonger,placementintheAlternative
School,oranyotherformofpunishmentthatthelocaladministrationdeemsappropriate.
Druguse:
Itisunlawfulforanypersontoknowinglyorintentionallypossessacontrolledsubstance
(depressant,stimulant,counterfeit,illegaldrug)unlessobtainedfromorpursuanttoavalid

prescriptionorpractitioner.Anystudentwhoviolatesthispolicyshallbesubjecttoexpulsion
fromschoolandprosecutionbylawenforcementofficials.Studentsshallalsobenotifiedthat
anypersonaddictedtoordependentonacontrolledsubstancemayseekadviceconcerning
suchproblemsandinformationastowheretheymayobtaintreatmentandrehabilitationfrom
amedicalpractitionerorhospital,collegeoruniversitycounselingbureaus,counselorsor
teachersinelementary,juniorandhighschools,ordainedandlicensedministers,orstaff
membersofadrugtreatmentcenter.Suchadvicecanbesoughtwithoutfearofarrestorbeing
reportedtolawenforcementofficials.Theillegalpossessionofcertainamountsofsuchdrugs
createsapresumptionthepersonissellingthesedrugs.Violationoftheillegaldrugpolicywill
resultinoneofthefollowing:expulsionfromschoolforatleastonesemesterorplacementin
thealternativeschool.Also,lawenforcementofficialswillbenotified.
SMOKINGANDTOBACCO
Nosmokingortheuseofsmokelesstobacco(snuff,chewingtobacco,etc.)isallowedanywhere
ontheschoolcampus.Thepossessionofanytobaccoontheschoolcampusorschoolbusesis
prohibited.Theuseoftobaccoinanyformmaybeharmfultoyourhealth.Appropriate
disciplinewillbeenforceduponpossessionanduseoftobacco.Possessionoftobaccobyanyone
undertheageofeighteenisagainstMississippilaw.
SCHOOLVIOLENCEPREVENTION
MississippiCodeSection97-37-17statesthefollowing:
1.Thefollowingdefinitionsapplytothissection:
A “Educationalproperty”shallmeananypublicorprivateschoolbuildingorbus,publicor
privateschoolcampus,grounds,recreationalarea,athleticfield,orotherpropertyowned,
used,oroperatedbyanylocalschoolboard,school,collegeoruniversityboardoftrustees,
ordirectorsfortheadministrationofanypublicorprivateeducationalinstitutionorduringa
schoolrelatedactivity;providedhowever,thattheterm“educationalproperty”shallnot
includeany16thsectionschoollandorlieulandonwhichisnotlocatedaschoolbuilding,
schoolcampus,recreationalareaorathleticfield.
B “Student”shallmeanapersonenrolledinapublicorprivateschool,college,oruniversity,
orpersonwhohasbeensuspendedorexpelledwithinthelastfiveyearsfromapublicor
privateschool,collegeoruniversity,whetherthepersonisanadultorminor.
C “Switchbladeknife”shallmeanaknifecontainingabladeorblades,whichopen
automaticallybythereleaseofaspringorsimilardevice.
D “Weapon”shallmeananydeviceenumeratedinsubsection(2)or(4)ofthissection.
Itshallbeafelonyforanypersontopossessorcarry,whetheropenlyorconcealedanygun,
rifle,pistolorotherfirearmofanykind,oranydynamitecartridge,bomb,grenade,mineor
powerfulexplosiveoneducationalproperty.
Anypersonviolatingthissubsectionshallbeguiltyofafelonyand,uponconvictionthereof,
shallbefinednotmorethan$5000,orcommittedtothecustodyoftheStateDepartmentof
Correctionsfornotmorethanthreeyears,orboth.

Theconstitutionalrightsofstudentsareprotectedthroughdueprocess.InUnionCounty
Schools,proceduresgrantingdueprocesswillbefollowedintheexerciseofdisciplinary
authority.Thepracticeoftellingstudentswhattheyareaccusedofdoingandtheevidence
againstthem(notice)andallowingthemanopportunitytoexplaintheirversionofthefacts
(hearing)beforeimposinganypunishmentcontributestoachievingfundamentalfairness.
UNSAFESCHOOLCHOICEPOLICY
TheMississippiDepartmentofEducationhassetforthcriteriafortheidentificationofUnsafe
SchoolsinMississippi.ThecriteriaareexplainedintheUnsafeSchoolChoicePolicyadoptedby
theUnionCountyBoardofEducation.AtanytimeaschoolintheUnionCountySchoolDistrictis
identifiedasbeingunsafebasedonthiscriteria,parentsshallbenotifiedandprovidedthe
opportunityfortheirchild/childrentoattendanotherschoolinthedistrictthathasnotbeen
identifiedasunsafebasedonthiscriteria.

SEARCHES
TheUnionCountySchoolBoardanditsadministratorsupholdtheconceptthatapersonor
his/herpropertycannotbelegallysearchedwithoutreasonablesuspicionand/orpermission
fromtheindividualwhoistheobjectofthesearch.
(1) Allrandomsearchesmustbepre-approvedbythesuperintendent,assistant
superintendent,principal,orassistantprincipal.Nootherdistrictemployeehasthe
authoritytoauthorizearandomsearch.
(2) Studentlockersaresubjecttorandomsearchesaslongastheintentisnottosingleoutany
individualstudent.Lockersarealsosubjecttospecificsearchesbasedonreasonable
suspicionthataschoolordistrictpolicyorapubliclawhasbeenviolated.
(3) Searchesofdesksorotherschoolpropertymaybesearchedatanytimewithorwithout
reasonablesuspicion.
(4) Vehiclesdriventoschoolbyorforstudentsmaybesearchedbyvisualinspectionwithout
reasonablesuspicion.Vehiclesmaybestringentlysearchedifthereisreasonablesuspicion
thataschoolordistrictpolicyorapubliclawhasbeenviolated.
(5) Caninesearchesmaybeutilizedatanytimetosearchvehicles,possessions,desks,lockers,
andotherschoolpropertywithoutreasonablesuspicion.Acanineresponseindicatingthe
presenceofcontrabandconstitutesreasonablesuspicion,andamoreintrusivesearchmay
beconductedatthediscretionoftheschooladministrationorlawenforcementofficials.
(6) Nostudentshallbestrip-searchedexceptincaseofemergency.Nostudentwillbeaskedto
removeanyarticleofclothinginthepresenceofamemberoftheoppositesex.
(7) Whenconductingasearch,astaffmemberofthesamesexasthestudentmustbepresent.
SECRETSOCIETIES/GANGACTIVITY
ItisunlawfulintheStateofMississippitoorganizefraternities,sororities,orsecretsocietiesin
publichighschools.Itisalsounlawfulforpublicschoolstudentstobeamemberofsuch
organizationsandtosolicitmembershipinsuchorganizations.Studentsinviolationofthis
policyaresubjecttosuspension,alternativeschoolplacement,orexpulsion.
Gangactivity,whichinitiates,promotes,oradvocatesactivitiesthatthreatenthesafetyorwell
beingofpersonsorpropertyonschoolgroundsorwhichdisruptstheschoolenvironmentare
harmfultotheeducationalprocess.Theuseofhandsignals,graffiti,orthepresenceofapparel,
jewelry,accessory,ormannerofgroomingwhichbyvirtueofcolor,arrangement,trademark,
symbol,oranyotherattributewhichimpliesmembershiporaffiliationwithsuchagroup
presentsaclearandpresentdanger.Studentsdisplayinginterest,involvement,oraffiliation
withagangshallbesubjecttodisciplinaryaction.
SEXUALHARASSMENT
TheUnionCountySchoolDistrictstrivestomaintainaschoolenvironmentforallstudentsthat
arefreefromthehostileatmospherecreatedbysexualharassmentorintimidation.Such
conductwillnotbetoleratedfromstudentsorstaffmembers.Ifyouaresubjectedtosexual
harassmentorintimidationbyanyindividual,includingotherstudentsorstaffmembers,you
shouldimmediatelyreporttheincidenttoyourteacher,counselor,localadministrator,TitleIX

TITLEIXGRIEVANCES
StepOne
1. Astudentwithagrievanceshallpresentittohis/herprincipal.Theprincipalshall
discussitwiththestudentassoonaspossibleandattempttoworkoutasatisfactory
solutionwithinthepoliciesandadministrativeregulationsofthedistrictortheprincipal
maycontactTitleIXCoordinator.Thehearingshallbeheldwithinfivedaysofthe
requestandadecisionshallbegivenwithinanotherfivedays.
2. Ifsuchhearingisnotheldwithinfivedaysoradecisionisnotgivenwithinfivedaysof
thehearing,theaggrievedstudentmayproceedtosteptwo.
StepTwo
1. Ifthegrievanceisnotresolvedtothesatisfactionofthestudentatsteponeora
conditionmentionedinstepone,numbertwoexists,thestudentmayfilethegrievance
withtheTitleIXCoordinator.
2. IfthegrievanceisnotfiledwiththeTitleIXCoordinatorwithintendaysofthehearing
instepone,thegrievanceshallbeconsideredresolved.
3. Withintendaysafterthereceiptofthegrievance,theTitleIXCoordinatorshallmeet

StepThree

oftheUnionCountySchoolBoard.

Ifastudentbecomesillwhileatschool,he/sheshouldmakethesupervisingteacherorschool

parent/guardianofthestudentwillbenotified.
MEDICATION
Becauseofthepossiblecomplicationsthatcouldarise,over-the-countermedicationwillnotbe
dispensedfromtheofficeunlesstheschoolnurseispresentanddeemsitnecessary.The

followingprocedureshallbefollowedforastudentwhoisrequiredbyaphysiciantotake
medicationduringtheschoolday:
(1)Thedistrict’s“MedicationPermissionRequestForm”shallbecompleted,signedand
submittedtotheschooloffice.
(2)Medicationshallbedeliveredtotheschoolofficebytheparent/guardianofthechildinthe
regularprescriptionbottlelabeledbyapharmacist.Ifatallpossible,allmedicationshouldbe
administeredathome.
HEADLICE
Headlice,Pediculushumanuscapitis,areacommonproblemwithschoolage
children.Althoughtheydonottransmitanyhumandisease,theymaybeconsidereda
nuisance,andrequireconsciouseffortonthepartofschoolofficialsandparentstocontrol.Itis
importanttounderstandthatheadlicearenotaproductofpoorpersonalhygieneorlackof
cleanliness,andtheirpresenceisnotareflectionontheschoolorthefamily.Childrenwillbe
identifiedbyscreeningsandbyindividualcases.Siblingsofstudentsorstudentsthatliveinthe
samehouseholdofastudentthatisfoundtohaveheadliceornits(eggs)willbe
screened.Screeningswillbedonebyteachers,schoolnurses,orappointedschoolpersonnel.If
yourchildisfoundtohaveheadliceornits,youwillbenotifiedtopickyourchildupfrom
school.Yourchildmayreturntoschoolwhenheorsheisfreeofliceandviablenits(eggs)and
evidenceoftreatmentisprovided.Evidenceoftreatmentincludes,areceipt,letterfromparent
thatincludesthenameoftheproductused,packagelabel,productbottleetc.Onlyapproved
medicalproductswillbeaccepted,NOThomeremedies.
Treatment:Therearenumerousover-the-counterlicekillingshampoosandproductsthatwork.
Yourdoctorornursepractitionercanwriteaprescriptionforlicekillingproducts.Itisimportant
torememberthatthedirectionsonthelabelsmustbefollowedcorrectlyfortheproducttobe
effective.Mostproductsrequireasecondtreatment7-10daysafterthefirsttreatmentforthe
producttobeeffective.Removalofthenits(eggs)isanotherimportantsteptoprevent
reinfestation.Removingthenitsisimportantbecausethetreatmentsdonotalwayskillthenits
(eggs)andbyremovingthemtheycannolongerhatch.THEBESTWAYTOREMOVETHENITS
(EGGS)ISMANUALLYWITHYOURFINGERS.Nitcombsaregood,butsometimesmisssomeof
thenits(eggs).Therearecommercialproductsavailabletohelploosentheglue-likesubstance
thatcausesthenits(eggs)toattachtothehairshaft.Householdmembersofachildwithhead
liceshouldbeexaminedforlice.Anyoneelseinthehomefoundtobeinfestedshouldalsobe
treated.Theoneexceptionisanypersonover2yearsofagewhosharesabedwiththeinfested
childshouldsimplybetreatedpresumptively.Forallchildrenundertheageof2consulta
doctorfortreatmentrecommendations.
EnvironmentalControl:Clothing,coats,jackets,clothtoys,stuffedanimals,andpersonallinens
suchastowelsandbedclothes,shouldbedisinfectedbywashinginhotwateranddryinginthe
dryerusingthehotcycle.Brushesandcombsshouldbewashedthoroughlyinhotwater.Nonwashablesshouldbedrycleaned,orstoredinanair-tightcontainerorplasticbagforatleast2
weeks.Itemssuchasheadgear,headsets,hats,caps,andscarvesshouldbestoredinanairtight
containerorplasticbagforatleast2weeks.Carpet,clothfurniture,carseats,andanycloth
surface(includingtheclothandcarpetinvehicles),shouldbevacuumedthoroughly.Talkto
yourchildaboutnotsharingthingslikebrushes,combs,hats,caps,oranyhairitemwithother

SpecialEducationRuling
Specialeducationstudentsareresponsibleforadheringtothesamerulesofconductasnondisabledstudents.Stateandfederalregulationsrelatedtostudentswithdisabilitieswillbe

educationstudentchargedwithaviolationofthispolicy,beforeanychangeinplacementoccurs

504Procedures
Section504oftheRehabilitationActof1973prohibitsdiscriminationagainstpersonswitha
handicapinanyprogramreceivingfederalfinancialassistance.Nodiscriminationagainstany
personwithadisabilitywillknowinglybepermittedinanyoftheprogramsandpracticesofthe

schoolsystem.Toensurethedistrict'scompliancewithSection504asitappliestostudents
withhandicaps,thefollowingprocedureshavebeenadopted.
1. Ifastudentclaimsthathe/shehasbeensubjectedtodiscriminationonthebasisofa
handicappingcondition,inviolationofSection504oftheRehabilitationActof1973,or
ifthedistricthasreasontobelievethatastudenthasahandicapwhichsubstantially
limitsthestudent'sabilitytolearn(andthestudentisineligibleforservicesunderIDEA),
thedistrictshallconveneateamofpeoplewhoareknowledgeableofthestudent's
educationalneedstoreviewandconsiderallpertinentinformationrelatedtothe
suspectedhandicap.Thismeetingshallbeconvenedwithinten(10)daysafterthe
districtreceivesawrittenstatementdescribingthespecificdiscriminatoryconductor
thedistrictbecomesawareofthestudent'shandicapaffectingthestudent'sabilityto
learn.
2. Theteamdescribedinparagraph1aboveshalldeterminewhetherthestudentis
handicappedunderSection504andwhetherthathandicapsubstantiallylimitsthe
majorlifefunctionoflearning.Ifsuchadeterminationismade,theteammustfurther
determinewhataccommodationsarerequiredonbehalfofthedistricttoallowthe
studentanequalopportunitytoparticipateinschoolandschool-relatedactivities.Ifthe
student'sparentsdisagreewiththedistrict'sconclusionandrecommendations,the
parentsshallbeinformedoftheirrighttoaskforanimpartialhearingtodecidethe
matter.Hearingrequestsshallbemadeinwritingtothesuperintendentgivingspecific

3. Animpartialhearingshallbeheldwithinten(10)daysofreceiptofthewritten
request.Thedistrictshallobtainasahearingofficeranindividualwhoisnotan
employeeofthedistrictandwhoisknowledgeableofSection504.Theparentand
studentmaytakepartinthehearingandhaveanattorneyrepresentthemattheirown
expense.Thedistrictalsomayberepresentedbycounsel.
4. Thehearingofficershallconductthehearingsoastogivetheparentsanopportunityto
presentevidencesupportingtheirclaimthattheirchildhasbeensubjectedto
discriminatorytreatmentinviolationofSection504.Thedistrictshallbegiventhe
opportunitytopresentevidencesupportingitspositionwithrespecttothestudent.A
taperecordingofthehearingwillbemadebythedistrict,acopyofwhichwillbe
providedtheparents.
5. Thehearingofficershallmakeadecisionwithinten(10)daysaftertheconclusionofthe
hearing.Thedecisionshallbegiveninwritingtothedistrict's504coordinatorandthe
parents.
6. IfeitherpartyisaggrievedbytheactionoftheHearingOfficer,anappealmaybetaken
totheboardoftrusteesofthedistrictatitsnextregularlyscheduledmeeting.The
board,initsdiscretion,mayallowastatementtobemadebytheparentsanda
representativeofthedistrict.Thedecisionoftheboardshallbefinal.
7. Thedistrictshallpublishitspolicyofnondiscriminationonthebasisofhandicapand

HighschoolstudentsparticipatinginBringYourOwnDeviceclassmaybeallowedtobringcell
phonesoncampustouseonlyindesignatedclass/classes.

andanyotherelectronicdevicethatsendsdataorreceivescallsonschoolpropertyfromthe

TheFamilyEducationalRightandPrivacyAct(FERPA)(20U.S.C.&1232g;34CFRPart99)isa
Federallawthatprotectstheprivacyofstudenteducationrecords.Thelawappliestoallschools
thatreceivefundsunderanapplicableprogramoftheU.S.DepartmentofEducation.
FERPAgivesparentscertainrightswithrespecttotheirchildren’seducationrecords.These
rightstransfertothestudentwhenheorshereachestheageof18orattendsaschoolbeyond
thehighschoollevel.Studentstowhomtherightshavetransferredare“eligiblestudents.”

Duringregistration,studentsarecarefullycounseledontheirscheduleforeachyear.Thisis
donetopreventconflictsintheneedsofeachstudent;therefore,studentswillnotbeallowed
tochangetheirschedulesexceptinextremeemergencies.Schedulechangeswillbedetermined
andmadebytheprincipalorcounselor.Studentshaveamaximumoffourdaystodropaclass.
Noclasseswillbechangedafterthefirst4daysofeachsemester.Studentswillnotbeallowed

STUDENTDRUGTESTINGPOLICY
(ForstudentsparticipatinginanyextracurricularactivitiesincludingMississippiHighSchool
ActivityAssociationMHSAA)
I.POLICY
TheUnionCountySchoolDistrict(UCSD)recognizesthatdrugusebystudentsparticipatingin
anyextracurricularactivity,includingactivitiesgovernedbytheMississippiHighSchoolActivities
Association(MHSAA),presentspecialconcernsregardingthedangerouscombinationofdrugs
andschoolactivities.Whilethemisuseorabuseofillegaldrugs,prescription,andnonprescriptiondrugsisunsafeforanystudent,thephysicaldemandsplaceduponstudents
involvedinathletics,band,andcheerleadinginthepracticeandcompetitionmakesuchmisuse
orabusedangerous.Thestudent'suseofdrugsincreasestheriskofinjuriesandimpairs
judgment,coordination,andreaction,leadingtoinjuriesonthefield,notonlythestudentusing
drugs,alsootherteammates,oropponents.Conditioningcanbecontinuous,sotheconcernfor
safetydoesnotdiminishduringtheoff-seasonofasport.
WhiletheincidenceofdrugusebyUnionCountySchoolDistrictSchoolstudents,andespecially
studentsinvolvedincompetitionand/orpractice,isnotgreat,thedangerdoesexistto
individualstudentsandismagnifiedbyphysicalexertion.Additionally,UCSDfindsthat,since
physicalconditioning,practice,andcompetitioncanoftenbeadailyactivity,theindicationof
druguseintherecentpastmeansthat(1)thestudentmostprobablyexercisedwiththedrug
(oralcohol)inthestudent'ssystemand(2)thestudentmayexerciseundertheinfluenceof
drugsoralcoholinthefutureunlessthereisreasonableinterventionprovidedinthispolicy.
Inadditiontofocusingontheserioushealthrisksposedbystudent’sdruguse,UCSDhaselected
toteststudentsinvolvedinanyextracurricularactivityoractivitiesgovernedbyMHSAA.These
studentsgenerallyareprominentmembersofthestudentbodywhoareviewedwith
admirationandrespect.Thisstatusplacesthesestudentsinaleadershiprolethatgivesinwhich
theyhavethepowertoinfluenceotherstudents'behavior.Accordingly,drugandalcoholuseby
studentsinvolvedinextracurricularactivities,includingMHSAAactivities,canhaveanegative
effectonthegeneralhealthandwelfareofallstudents.
Inresponsetohealthrisksandotherrisksposedbythesestudents’druguse,UCSDhas
implementedastudentdrugtestingpolicy.Thispolicyisdesignedtoprovideearlydetectionof
druguseandtoeradicateortoreducesignificantlytheuseandinfluenceofprohibiteddrugs,
alcoholandotherchemicalsbystudentsparticipatinginanyextracurricularactivityincluding
MHSAAgovernedprograms.Inpursuitofthesepurposes,UCSDdeclaresthattheuseof
prohibiteddrugsandalcohol,orintoxicationandphysicalinfluencethereof,bystudents
participatinginMHSAAgovernedactivitiesisinherentlyunsafe.Suchuse,intoxication,or
influenceshouldbedetectedandpreventedandsuchstudentshouldbecounseled,educated,
andmonitored.

ThispolicywasadoptedandisimplementedbytheUnionCountySchoolBoard.
III.APPLICABILITY
AllstudentsintheUnionCountySchoolDistrictenrolledingrades7ththrough12thwho
participateinanyUnionCountySchoolprogramgovernedbyMHSAAoranyextracurricular
activityshallbesubjecttodrugtestingtotheextentandmannerprovidedforinthispolicy.
IV.DEFINITIONS
"Anabolicsteroids"meanaclassofsyntheticcompoundswhichresemblethenaturalmale
hormonetestosteroneorwhichpromotemuscletissuegrowthatarateabovethatwhichcan
beobtainedthroughtrainingandnutrition,leadingtoincreasedmusclemass,powerand
strength."Drugand/oralcoholtest"meansachemicaltestadministeredforthepurposeof
determiningthepresenceorabsenceofadrugoralcoholinaperson'sbodilyfluids.
"Illegaldrug"meansaprohibiteddrugassetforthbeloworadruglistedasillegalunder
MississippilaworadrugwhichisillegaltouseunderMississippilawwithoutaprescription.
"Initialtest"meansaninitialdrugtesttodeterminethepresenceorabsenceofdrugsorrelated
metabolitesorofalcoholanditsmetabolitesinspecimens.
"MedicalReviewOfficer""or"MRO"meansalicensedphysician,eitheradoctorofmedicineor
doctorofosteopathy,orothermedicalorscientificexpertknowledgeableindrugabuse
disorders,employedtohelpthelabinterpret,evaluate,andmonitoritsdrug-testingprogram.
“MississippiHighSchoolActivitiesAssociationSanctionedEvents”meansathletics,band,
cheerleading,chorus,debateanddance.
"Negativedrugtest"meansadrugoralcoholtestthatdoesnotshowevidenceofalcoholora

"Prescriptionornon-prescriptionmedication"meanadrugprescribedforusebyaduly
licensedphysician,dentistorothermedicalpractitionerlicensedtoissueprescriptionsoradrug
thatisauthorizedpursuanttofederalorstatelawforgeneraldistributionandusewithouta
prescriptioninthetreatmentofhumandiseases,ailmentsorinjuries.
"Prohibiteddrug"meansanydrugwhichisconsideredapartofthegroupofdrugslistedin
SectionVofthisDrugTestingPolicy.
"Randomtesting"meansaneutralselectionbasisoftestingfordrugsand/oralcoholwhich
providesamechanismforselectingstudentsfortestingthat:(1)resultsinanequalprobability
thatanystudentfromapoolofstudentssubjecttotheselectionmechanismwillbeselected,
and(2)doesnotgiveUCSDandschoolpersonnelthediscretiontowaivetheselectionofany
studentselectedunderthemechanism.
"Reasonablesuspiciondrugoralcoholtesting"meansdrugandalcoholtestingbasedona
foundedsuspicionthatastudentisinpossessionoforisusingorhasuseddrugsinviolationof
thispolicyasindicatedinArticleX.
“Refusal”meansdonorwillonlybeallowedtwo(2)attemptstocollectaspecimenandifunable
toprovidespecimen,itwillbeconsideredarefusal.Arefusalwillbedeemeda“positivedrug
testresult.”
“Student”meansallstudentsenrolledinaUnionCountySchoolwhoparticipate,orwhohave
expressedanintentiontoparticipate,inanyextracurricularactivity."Specimen"meansatissue

orproductofthehumanbodychemicallycapableofrevealingthepresenceofdrugsoralcohol
inthehumanbody.
V.PROHIBITEDDRUGS
ThePrincipalshalldesignatethosedrugsforwhichtestsshallbeadministered.
VI.IMPLEMENTATION
Allstudentsparticipatinginanyextracurricularactivityandtheirparentsorguardianswillbe
notifiedofthispolicy.ThePrincipalshallberesponsibleforthefair,impartial,andcomplete
implementationofthispolicyandforensuringtheno-notice,surprisenatureofalltesting.
VII.CONSENT/REFUSALTOCONSENT
AllstudentsparticipatinginanyextracurricularactivityincludingactivitiesoftheMHSAAandthe
parents/guardiansofstudentsshallbeaskedtosignaconsentformacknowledgingthepolicy
authorizingthetestforprohibiteddrugsasprovidedforinthispolicyandconsentingtothe
releaseofthetestresultstotheUnionCountySchoolDistrictandtheparents/guardiansofthe
student.ResultsmayalsobereleasedtotheSuperintendentorhis/herdesignee,theschool
principal,andcoaches/directors/sponsorsonaneed-to-knowandconfidentialbasis.A
suggestedconsentformisattachedtothispolicy.Ifastudentand/orthestudent’s
parent/guardiandeclineorfailtosigntheconsentform,thestudentwillbeineligibleto
participateinanyextracurricularactivityincludingactivitiesgovernedbytheMHSAA.
VIII.RANDOMTESTING
StudentsasdefinedinSectionIVofthispolicywillbetestedonarandombasisforuseof
prohibiteddrugs.Therandomtestingshallnotbeannouncedorrevealedpriortothetimeof
commencementandshallbeconductedonano-notice,surprisebasis.Administrativestaffshall
notbeinvolvedinthecollection,storage,labeling,orhandlingofspecimensfromrandom
testing.TheUCSDSuperintendentshalldeterminethepercentageofstudentstestedinanyone
(1)randomtest,nottoexceed20%.
IX.REASONABLESUSPICIONFORILLEGALDRUG/UNAUTHORIZEDPRESCRIPTIONMEDICATION
POSSESSIONORUSE
Anystudentwhobyreasonablesuspicionisbelievedtobeundertheinfluenceorhaspossession
ofdrugsshallbesubjecttobeingtested.Reasonablesuspicionmayinclude,butnotlimitedto
specificobservationswhicharearticulatedconcerningtheappearance,behavior,speechor
bodyodorsofthestudent.
X.SPECIMENCOLLECTION
Breath,urine,hair,andsalivaspecimensmaybecollectedunderreasonableandsanitary
conditions.Individualdignityandprivacywillbepreservedtotheextentpracticable.Universally
acceptedstandardsfortesting,labeling,storage,andtransportationofspecimenswillbestrictly
followedbythetestingagent.TheMROwillrequestinformationbeforeeachconfirmationtest
regardingprescriptionandnon-prescriptiondrugsandanyotherinformation,whichcouldlead
toafalsepositivetest.AthleticDepartmentstaffmembersshallnotbeinvolvedinspecimen
collection.
XI.TESTINGPROCEDURES
BaptistMemorialHospital,UnionCountyhasbeendesignatedbyUCSDtoperformallinitial
drugandalcoholtests.Thehospitalwillberesponsibleforthehandlingandsafedeliveryofall

positivespecimenstotheconfirmationlaboratoryandsuchdeliverywillbeaccomplished
throughproperchainofcustodyprocedures.TheUCSDnursingstaffmayassistasneeded.
XII.FINDINGOFDRUGUSECONSEQUENCES
Iftheinitialtestfordrugsindicatesanegativeresult,nofurthertestwilloccurunlessthereis
goodreasontosuspectthequalityofthespecimensample.Iftheinitialtestindicatesapositive
result,aconfirmationtestwillbeconductedimmediately.Shouldtheconfirmationtestalso
indicateapositiveresult,theAdministratorwillnotifythestudentandthestudent's
parent/guardianinwritingofsuchpositivetestresults.
CONSEQUENCES
Refusal:Ifarefusaloccurs,itwillbeconsideredapositivetestresult.
FirstPositive:Whenapositiveresultisverifiedandconfirmed,theschoolcontactperson(s),as
definedinsectionXIIandthestudent’sparent(s)/legalguardian(s)willbenotified.Thefollowing
willoccur:1.)Thestudentwillnotbeallowedtoparticipateinanyextracurricularschoolevent
oreventsanctionedbytheMHSAAforminimumofseven(7)daysafternotificationanduntilhe
orshetestsnegative.2.)Thestudentwillnotbeallowedtoparticipateinphysicalpractice
activityuntilheorshetestsnegative.Example:Studentwillnotbeabletorun,liftweights,
throw,etc.withoutanegativeresult.3.)Thestudent’sgrademaynotbenegativelyimpacted
duetolackofparticipationinpracticeorevent.Alternateassignmentsmaybeused.4.)Any
studentwhotestspositivewillbesubjecttosubsequenttestingonceamonthforthefollowing
six(6)monthsattheparents’expense.Aschoolnurseorschooldesigneewillaccompanyforthe
followuptesting.Drugcounselingishighlyrecommendedbythedistrict.
SecondPositive:Whenasecondpositivetestisverifiedandconfirmed,theschoolcontact
person(s),asdefinedinsectionXII,andthestudent’sparent(s)/legalguardian(s)willbenotified.

XIII.APPEAL
AstudenthastherighttoappealadecisionoftheAthleticDepartmentbyfollowingthe
complaintproceduresasoutlinedinSchoolBoardPolicy.Participationinextracurricular
activitiesincludingMHSAAprogramsatUnionCountySchoolsisaprivilegeonlyandthestudent
hasnopropertyrightorinterestsinparticipation.
XIV.CONFIDENTIALITY
Theresultsofastudent'sdrugand/oralcoholtestshallnotbereleasedtoanyoneotherthan
thelab,thePrincipal,andthestudent'sparents/guardians.Resultsmayalsobereleasedtothe
Superintendentorhisdesignee,andcoaches/directors/sponsorsonaneed-to-knowand
confidentialbasis.Nootherpersonmayreceivethetestresultsofastudentwithouttheexpress
authorizationandconsentofthestudentandhis/herparent/guardian.
XV.COST
UCSDwillbearthecostofalldrugandalcoholtestsrequiredbyUCSDforstudents.Thestudent
orhis/herparent/guardianwillpaythecostsofanyadditionaltesting.
XVI.DRUGEDUCATIONANDCOUNSELING
UCSDprovidesdrugandalcoholeducationatseverallevels.UCSDhighlyrecommendsdrug
educationandcounselingasaprerequisitetocontinuingtoparticipateintheathleticprogram.
XVII.USEOFPRESCRIPTIONORLEGALNON-PRESCRIPTIONDRUGS
UCSDrecognizesthatfromtimetotimeitsstudents,formedicalreasons,maytakecertain
drugsprescribedbytheirphysicianincludingcertainprohibiteddrugs.UCSDalsorecognizesthat
studentsmay,fromtimetotime,forvariousmedicalreasonstakecertainnon-prescription
drugs.Anystudentwhoneedstotakeprescriptionornon-prescriptiondrugsmay(butisnot
requiredto)notifytheschoolnurseoranathleticdepartmentstaffmemberandprovideacopy
oftheprescription,orinthecaseofnon-prescriptiondrugs,anotefromtheparent/guardian
thatthestudenthaspermissiontopossessandtakethenon-prescriptiondrugs.The
prescriptionorthenoteshouldstatehowlongthestudentwillbetakingthedrugs.Boththe
prescriptionandthenoteshouldbespecificaboutthetypeordescriptionofdrugtobetaken.
Theschoolnurseandstaffmembershallkeeptheinformationconfidentialandinasecure
location.
Priortoaninitialdrugandalcoholtest,astudentmayvoluntarilydisclosetheuseofany
prescriptionornon-prescriptiondrugs,butwillnotberequiredtodoso.Iftheinitialtestresults
arepositive,theMROshallrequestfromthestudentand/ortheparent/guardianinformation
regardingwhat,ifany,prescriptionandnon-prescriptiondrugs,thestudentwasusingatthe
timeofthetest.
Informationregardingastudent'sneedforandpossessionanduseofprescriptionandnon-
prescriptiondrugsisconsideredconfidential,sensitive,andprivate.Theinformationisnecessary
andwillonlybeusedfortheassistanceofthestudentneedingthemedications,thesafetyof
thatstudentandotherstudents,and,intheeventofapositiveinitialtestresult,toassistthelab
indeterminingpossiblecausesofafalse-positivetest.
AUTOMOBILES
Drivingandparkingonschoolgroundsisacourtesyofferedtostudentsandothersbyourschool
district.Theparkingfacilitiesoftheschooldistrictaretobeusedforschoolpurposes

only.Schoolpurposesincludeattendanceatschoolorotherschoolactivities,whichoccur
beforeoraftertheregularschoolday.Violatorsmaybechargedwithtrespassing.Studentsare
responsibleforlockingtheirvehiclesuponarrival,astheschooldistrictshallassumeno
responsibilityforloss.Studentswhooperateanautomobileoncampusaresubjecttothe
following:
(1) Astudentwhodrivestoschoolwillhaveavalidlicensetodriveandwillprovideproof
insurancetoschooladministrationaswellaspermitforminbackofhandbooksignedby
parent/guardian.
(2) Studentsarenotallowedaccesstovehiclesatanytimeduringtheschooldaywithout
administrativeapproval.
(3) Onceastudentdrivesontocampus,thestudentcannotleavewithoutappropriately
checkingoutintheoffice.
(4) AllUnionCountystudentswillobtainaparkingpermitfromtheirlocalprincipal.No
studentwillbeallowedtoparkoncampuswithoutaschool-issuedpermit.
(5) Drivingandparkingprivilegeswillbesuspendedforonesemesterifastudentreceivesthree
transportationrelatedwarningsorviolationswithinthesemester.Ifthefirstorsecond
violationisofaseverenature,schooladministrationmayrevokeastudent’sdriving
privilegesatthattime.
VocationalStudents
Afternoonvocationalstudentsmaydrivetothevocationalcenteriftheydonothaveaseventh
periodclassandreceiveproperauthorizationfromthelocalschooloffice.Studentsmaynot
ridewithotherstudentstothevocationalcenterasthisisinviolationofboardpolicy.Morning
vocationalstudentswillbetransportedtothevocationalcenterbythelocalschool.
TheSchoolBoardapprovestheStudentHandbookwithchangespriortoprintingand
distributiontoguardians,parentsandstudents.
