Dori Wheeler is our featured artist for May
Join us Saturday afternoon, May 6th from 1:00 to 5:00PM for a reception and
enjoy Dori’s demonstrations of “iris folding paper” for creating greeting cards and framed
scenes. Dori will also demonstrate the technique to recycle greeting cards into gift boxes.
Dori Wheeler enjoys creating
in several media including
decorating objects in the
Pennsylvania Dutch tradition,
creating a distinct style. Dori
began painting in 1977 and has
taught decorative painting since
1979. Whether it is hearts and
tulips in oil or roses and
columbines in acrylics,
Dori
accepts commissions to decorate
your favorite things such as:
watering cans, milk cans,
steamer trunks, boxes and
chests.
Dori also creates framed
pictures and greeting cards,
using variety of folded papers to
create montages. For her cards,
this technique involves folding
papers so the center of the
design forms an iris — a shape
reminiscent of the
of a leaf
shutter in camera lens.
