LIONS
Lions are animals. They are called “the King of the jungle”. They live
in grasslands and plains. Most of the lions in the world live in Africa
but there are few in some parts of India.
They belong to the cat family. They can live about 15 years. An
adult male lion can weigh between 330 and 550 kilograms. Males
are larger than females.
Lions can run at 58 kilometress per hour. They are very fast. Also,
lions are excellent swimmers. Lions eat meat, they are carnivores. A
typical meal for an adult male lion is about 7 kilograms of meat. The
most important job of male lions is defending the pride.
Lions usually live in groups of fifteen. These groups are called
prides. Cubs are the baby lions. Lionesses, the females, take care
of the cubs and hunt. Lionesses usually hunt in groups of two or
three in the dark. Lions are amazing animals !
