Dean Obeidallah is a lawyer and nationally renowned
comedian who co-starred in the Comedy Central special “The
Axis of Evil.” Dean is the host of SiriusXM radio’s “The Dean
Obeidallah Show,” a columnist for The Daily Beast, and has
written for CNN.com and The Huffington Post. He is the
co-director/co-producer of the recently released comedy
documentary entitled “The Muslims are Coming!” featuring a
stand up comedy tour of Muslim-American comedians
performing free shows across the South and West in the hopes of
fostering understanding. He has also appeared on numerous
international and national television programs including on NBC,
MSNBC, CNN, VH1, Al Jazeera, and BBC.

Celebrating American Muslim
Achievements
Over the past year, ISPU has embarked
on a journey to map the contributions of
American Muslims to the state of Michigan.
The Muslims for American Progress (MAP)
project aims to quantify contributions by Muslims
in the areas of medicine, STEM, philanthropy
& nonprofits, civics & democracy, economics,
education, sports, and arts & entertainment. Profiling
these individuals of distinction showcases the
community’s diversity while giving it a human face. The
findings left us inspired and amazed, but never surprised
by the talent and dedication of American Muslims.
We are eager to begin sharing our MAP stories with you. This year at the ISPU Annual Banquet, we will tell the stories of the
champions in the community. These stories reflect American Muslim contributions not only to the state of Michigan but to the
nation as a whole. You can help us bring to light these inspiring narratives of vitality, optimism, empowerment, and

ISPU’s 2016 Annual Banquet features keynote speaker Dean Obeidallah, a lawyer, award-winning comedian, host of SiriusXM radio’s
“The Dean Obeidallah Show,” and co-director and co-producer of the award-winning documentary “The Muslims Are Coming!”
The banquet’s participants include more than 500 professionals, business leaders, philanthropists, university students, and
members of ISPU’s extensive donor network. ISPU’s event and e-mail advertisement campaigns are directly shared with thousands
of individuals across the country, including academics, policy makers, community organizers, philanthropists, and news and media
agencies. This audience is concentrated in major metropolitan areas across 20 U.S. states, with key groups in Washington DC,
Metro Detroit, Chicago, the San Francisco Bay Area, and multiple cities across the state of Florida.
Every year, more than 160,000 visitors come to the ISPU website for information about our research, events, and programs. The
promotional campaign for the 2016 Annual Banquet will include social media posts, website announcements, print announcements via
direct mail to our national mailing list, and event specific direct mail flyers sent to ISPU supporters in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois.
