GETTING TO KNOW OUR STAFF:
SENIOR CHIEF GEORGE JEFFERSON
My name is Senior Chief George Jefferson. I'm a retired US Navy veteran
who honorably served our country for 21 years.
My wonderful wife (Diane) and I have been married for 40 years with two
children and 7 grandchildren.
Since my Naval retirement I have taught NJROTC at Wilmer-Hutchins high
school in Dallas, Travis High School in Austin TX, and LCC at Boude Storey
Middle School in Dallas before coming to Seagoville MS.
I enjoy teaching and having the opportunity to watch young children grow
into contributing young adults in our society.
Being at Seagoville MS with such great staff and faculty makes coming
work a pure joy.
Senior Chief George Jefferson – 7th Gr. LCC
A Message from our Principal
2016 - 2017
Dear SMS Family,
This time I would like to talk about Excellence. This is the third
component of our success plan this year.
Defined as “extremely high quality”, excellence is the result of a number of best
practices applied consistently to any endeavor we take on. Excellence cannot be
conceived without the other two components, Compliance and Commitment.
The lack of any of those two makes Excellence impossible to attain.
Vocabulary.com defines Excellence as greatness — the very best. The same site
states that “achieving excellence is never easy to do. Excellence is a quality that
people really appreciate, because it's so hard to find. Excellence is the quality of
excelling, of being truly the best at something.”
The above statement implies that excellence lies on individuals first, then it is
permeated to an organization. If this is the case, it is very difficult to achieve
excellence when some elements in an organization struggle achieving it,
whether because of the lack of buy-in, or the personal desire of not
participating in the excellence efforts with the rest of the organization. This lack
of effort is made evident when compliance and commitment levels are low.
Fortunately, here at Seagoville Middle School, we all are convinced that
excellence is the only way to become the Premier Middle School in Dallas ISD.
Let’s continue to work on Compliance-->Commitment-->Excellence.
Get ready, be strong... Seagoville Strong!
Let’s Make It Happen!

What’s going on at Seagoville Middle School
Parents, teachers and administrators engaged in a meeting where important information
was shared. The parents learned about the school vision and mission. Other topics
discussed include students’ expectations, dress code, and the state of the school. The
parents had the opportunity to share their concerns and ask questions. Additionally, SBDM
officers were elected.
Our students in all grade levels participated in the students’ assemblies. Students were reminded about the
expectations, and general routines that will help them be successful this school year. Our counselors, nurse, and
administrators shared information and answered students’ questions in a quiet and orderly environment.

Our Fire-Breathing Dragons
Our 7th and 8th grade Dragon football teams played against Wilmer Hutchins Eagles. Our
seventh graders lost the match, not before putting up a great fight. Our eight grade team
avenged our Dragon pride, winning their respective match 12 to nothing. Our cheerleading
team, enthusiastically led by Ms. Tharps, encouraged our teams to push forward all the time.
Our cheerleaders displayed a great show of routines while our players defended our school
colors.
