Policy # 10-01
Support for Community Organizations
In this policy:
“community facility” means a public facility situated within the Beaubassin-est Rural
Community limits, and that is operated by a community organization;
“community group” means a non-profit group of people that have a specific mandate
focused on community and education;
“community organization” means a recognized non-profit association that serves the
Beaubassin-est Rural Community population;
“management” means employees considered as administrators of the Beaubassin-est
Rural Community.
In this policy, words in the singular include the plural, and words in the plural include the
singular. Words importing female persons include male persons and corporations and
words importing male persons include female persons and corporations.
Policy objective:
The Council recognizes that there are a large number of community organizations that are
responsible for the planning of many activities in the region, and the Council wants to
support the initiatives of these various organizations.
1. The Council will reimburse the administrative costs listed below at the rate paid
by a community organization for any development or activity inside the limits of
the Beaubassin-est Rural Community. Following the end of the activity in
question, a request shall be made to the administration and include the form in
“Appendix A” properly filled out, as well as the proof of payment of the costs, if
possible.

This initiative will be applied retrospectively to July 31st, 2006.
2. The Council will offer grants to organizations and community groups to a
maximum of $500 per year as far as the budgeted amount for this purpose by the
Council will allow and/or to its sole discretion. The application process will be the
following:
i.
A public announcement will be made in one or more newpapers of the
community and letters will be sent to known organizations in
Beaubassin-est to invite them to prepare a grant request;
ii.
In order to be considered for a grant, they will have to submit a written
request to the administrator before March 31st of every year. It shall
include an overview of the organization or group mandate and the territory
where it provides services, the name of the people on the administration
council/committee, the organization’s contact information and the name of
a contact person, as well as an overview of the planned projects for the
next year;
iii.
The comité de Fierté communautaire et culturelle will be responsible of
evaluating the received applications and making a recommendation to the
Council regarding the organizations that should receive a grant;
iv.
The community organizations that will receive a grant or support from the
municipality for a project other than one mentioned in this policy will not
be considered for another grant;
v.
The grants described in Section 2 of this document will not be offered to
organizations or community groups that organize religious or political
activities;
vi.
The municipality reserves the right to allow other grants other than the
ones mentioned in this policy according to the need in the community, and
to its discretion.
