The Cosmo Communicator
Artist’s Corner
Every month, the Communicator
will be featuring an artist from a
different division. This month we will be featuring Jennifer Sholer from the Contracts Division.
Jennifer has been working
at Cosmo since June 6th,
2002. She currently
resides at Elmwood Lodge.
Jennifer has been creating
paintings in her division
and tells us that painting is
wonderful and it makes her
happy.
Jennifer has
learned a lot since painting;
she especially loves to
paint sunsets. One of
Jennifer’s favorite paintings she has created is entitled “A Gorgeous Fall Day”.
She has been working with
acrylic paints and water to make a lot of these
paintings. Some of her other works are titled—
“Summer and Spring”, “Houses in the Woods”,
“My Happy Place”, “My Favorite Flower” and
“Lily Pad”. Her work is available to see in the
Contracts Division but will be exhibited in other
areas of the building shortly. Jennifer wants to
continue with her painting—she absolutely
loves it!
Thank you to all those who participated in the
First Annual Cosmo Festival of Trees and a big
CONGRATULATIONS to the Personal Supports Team for
winning “Fan Favourite” with their Poinsettia Tree!

Contracts Division
Thank you to the employees from BHP Billiton (who are seen
above with Cal Carter, Recycling Division Manager) who volunteered to paint the walls in the Recycling Division’s staff room.
The group did an amazing job by making the room look neat and
clean with some fresh paint. Staff from the Recycling Division are
happier to go on break to a lovely updated staff room thanks to
the BHP staff!
This month, we bid farewell to Allison (seen
above), a high school student who completed two
placements with us. Allison worked in the Contracts
Division every afternoon since the month of October. We will miss her contagious energy and her
great humour!
Luca Pierce Deck was born to Tiara and Nolan Deck December 12th, 2014
weighing 7lbs 5oz.
The growing family is doing wonderful, Luca is eating and sleeping like
a regular baby and his big sister Theda is watching intently over him!
Congratulations Deck Family on your new little man!

Charles Scherr
April 1st 1956December 2nd 2014
Charles passed away
quietly in the early morning on December 2, 2014 at his home,
Elmwood Lodge. He was born in Delisle
on April 1, 1956. In 1963 he moved with
his family to Borden and in 1976 he
moved to Saskatoon. Charles attended
John Dolan School and was then
employed at Cosmopolitan Industries
where he celebrated his fortieth anniversary this past spring. Saying goodbye
is never easy but is something we cannot avoid and with this we are forced to
say our final farewell to our dear friend
Charles. Charles was supported and
loved continually by his special friend
Marie Holba. Love birds, high-school
sweet hearts, Bonnie and Clyde, Romeo
and Juliet; their commitment to one
another was a prime example for all to
see. A bright light showing what true
love can be. Marie would speak often of
how she “spoils that boy” and about all
the things that she plans to do for him.
Although we never heard the exact
words spoken by Charles; Marie as well
as everyone else, knew how much
Charles appreciated Marie’s dedication
and their long-lasting friendship. Their
relationship was truly something for all
partners to aspire to.
Due to his declining health Charles was
attending the Cosmo Day Program at
Elmwood Lodge. Our final outing was a
trip to the Festival of Trees in which
Charles was lively, engaged and basking
in the glow of bright lights, carolers and
Christmas chatter. The next day was
another pleasant surprise; a wide-eyed
Charles joined the group early to decorate Elmwood’s Christmas tree which
was followed by a well deserved pizza
party. It was a special few days that we
will all remember for a long time. Death
is tough to grasp and to understand but
within this we can take away and appreciate that Charles is now resting soundly
in peace. Charles will always be remembered and never forgotten.

Alphonse
Turcotte
February 24th,1948 December 19th, 2014
With saddened hearts we
announce the passing of our friend
and co-worker Alphonse Turcotte.
Alphonse was born in Zenon Park
where he lived with his parents and
4 brothers and 6 sisters. Before
joining Cosmo, Alphonse worked at
Mallard Diversified Industries for 35
years, where he shredded paper,
mowed lawns, operated a cardboard
press and eviscerated ducks.
Although we didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Alphonse that long,
he did join our division in April of
2011 and since then has fit in amazingly, making friends with numerous
staff and participants.
Alphonse made a daily positive
impact on his area by being a dedicated co worker who took pride in
every job he worked on. Alphonse’s
interests were: watching hockey,
football, baseball and golf along with
listening to music and fishing.
Alphonse loved animals, especially
dogs. Alphonse loved going to
church to enjoy the fellowship and
the occasional beer, or rye and coke.
Alphonse was a humorous gentleman who liked to say it like it was
and if that involved a swear or two;
it just had to be.
Alphonse’s wishes were to work
until the end, and to be with his
friends. That’s exactly what he did.
We will truly miss Alphonse!
