2000 TERRA VALENTINE SPRING MOUNTAIN DISTRICT
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Terra Valentine produces wines with mountain intensity and balance that express the character of
the Spring Mountain District appellation, the vineyards and the passion of the winemaking team. Terra,
the Latin word for “land,” acknowledges the importance of hillside soil in the mountain wines. Valentine
honors Owner Angus Wurtele’s father, Valentine Wurtele.
Winemaker Sam Baxter appreciates the importance of balance in the creation of mountain wines. “The
high level of tannins and intensity in mountain fruit create a tendency to over-extract. With the use of
fully automated sealed punch-down tanks, we are able to extract better tannins. Our goal with this 2000
Spring Mountain District wine was to create a wine with intensity that is both elegant and approachable,”
said Baxter.
