Easy Fleece Hat
Materials for Adult or Child’s Hat:
1/3 yard solid fleece fabric
1/8 yard print fleece fabric
Instructions:




Measure the circumference of the wearers head and add 1/2”. Cut a 12” high strip of solid
fleece for an adult or a 10” high strip of fleece for a child to this length.
With right sides facing, sew the long ends of the fleece together using a ¼” seam allowance to
form a tube. Fold the tube right sides together aligning the seam in the center. Stitch a ¼” seam
along one edge. Join the two corners of the top of the hat together and stitching with a strong
thread, bring the needle through the inside of the hat at one corner and through the top of the
other corner. Pull tight so that the corners meet at the center and tie off the thread inside hat.
Cut the print fleece to the measurement used above and repeat the second step to form a tube
for the cuff. Fold the cuff tube in half, wrong sides together. Matching the seams, stitch the cuff
to the right side of the bottom edge of the hat.
To make a pom-pom, cut a strip of fleece that is 4” x 24” for an adult hat or 3” x 12” for a child’s
hat. Fold the pom-pom strip in half widthwise and draw a line down the center of the fabric
lengthwise. Cut ½” strips to the left and right of the line leaving an uncut center of about ¼”.
Roll up the strip of fabric, then thread a needle with strong thread. Bring the needle through the
center of the roll and wrap the thread tightly around the center of the roll several times. To
secure, bring the needle through the center of the roll again and tie a tight knot. You many use
the excess thread to stitch the pom-pom to the top center top of the hat, then fluff.
Easy Fleece Throw
Materials:
1-1/4 yards each of two coordinating fleece fabrics
Instructions:
Lay fabrics out with wrong sides together and cut fringe (1” wide x 3-1/2” long) all the way around the
edges and through both layers. At the corners, cut out the “square” that is left, then knot the two layers
together fringe by fringe and like magic, you have a cozy throw!
Easy Fleece Scarf
Materials:
1/3 yard fleece for scarf; 1/4 yard fleece for fringe and a size F crochet hook.
Instructions:
Square up your fleece if needed. Using very sharp point scissors, cut tiny holes along each short end of
scarf fleece 3/4” from the edge and 3/8” apart. Holes should be just large enough to allow the crochet
hook to pass. Cut fringe fleece into 9” x ½” strips. Fold one fringe strip in half. Catch folded strip on the
crochet hook then pass through one hole in fleece. Catch the ends of the fringe strip with the hook and
pull through the loop to knot. Tighten gently to secure. Repeat until all holes have been fringed. Enjoy!
