While 8th grade students experienced what it was like to be responsible for a baby 24/7 and created homemade toys that were age appropriate. Under the direction of FACS teacher, Mrs. Laurie Jensen, students planned and prepared the food for several receptions throughout the year. They started out with a reception honoring the area veterans. Next on their agenda was a reception for senior citizens and other community members who attended the dress rehearsal for the middle/high school Christmas concert. In addition, these students worked very hard hosting meals for the local High-Q competition, the forensics judges, the student council summit, and the Reality Day volunteers. Students also participated in the Annual “Soup”er Bowl & Chili Cook-Off by inviting their peers and staff members down to sample a variety of soups and secret recipe chilis. The themes the students selected to prepare were Hard Core Pizza Party planned by Courtney Kaminski, Under the Sea planned by Caitlyn Verduzco, and “Egg”tastic Easter planned by Jessica Marquardt. Culinary students finished out the year preparing an assortment of finger sandwiches and decadent desserts for the Class of 2017 Senior Girls Tea. Health Students Earn CPR Certification Students in Mrs. Jensen’s Health class recently underwent training for both rescue breathing and hands only CPR. Students were also instructed in how to use an AED. The training was provided by Bellin Health athletic trainer Eric Lengas. Thank you, Eric, for teaching the students this life-saving technique. We hope they will never be put in a position where they need to use it. We are confident that should the need arise, they are trained and ready to render assistance to an individual in need. Mrs. Lisch was asked, “What would you like people to remember about you?” “I always put the students’ needs ahead of my own. My priority was to help students face their challenges and strive to be the best they could be. I am organized, detail and deadline oriented, adaptable and genuinely enjoy watching students develop.
