Principal’s Report
o Burkett – Mr. Jason Burik
o Santa Shop starts on December 5th (2 hour delay also)
o Forest Grove – Mrs. Jennifer Kosanovic
o Grades close Nov. 29th Reports cards will be available on Skyward following (notice will be sent home)
o PJ Drive Dec. 2nd (Picture day will be rescheduled)
o Halloween Parade was a huge success
o Veteran’s day event – Wall of honor in FG and Burkett; Veteran’s spoke to the students and the students
sang to the Veteran’s
o Considering a slow start for multiple grade levels at the new elementary school next year
Presentations
o K Teachers – Mrs. Hric – slow start worked very well for the students; determining how they can make that
work again next year.
o October – Fire Safety
o Daily Five – decoding words and writing independently
o Non-presidential voting activity
o Veteran’s Day education
o Science – living vs non-living and animals and their basic needs
o STEAM – plan to build animal shelters
o 1st Grade Teachers – Mrs. Flemming, Mrs. Rippole, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Keaton, Mrs. Barbaro, Mrs. Walker,
Mrs. Bennett
o Reading – Daily Five, just finished first unit
o Math – Addition and Subtraction to and from 20
o STEM activity – built White House using marshmallows

o Gingerbread Houses to be built on December 20th

 Barnes and Noble provides PTA with a portion of the sales
 Adult volunteers are needed for the night of the event (Blast the Sign-Up Genius)
 Barnes and Noble Pre-order items will be sent home and can be picked up at the event

 Profit - $15,800
 Reserved seating will be offered next year

Innovation Mini Grants – Lauren Baughman
 3 applications were received for the first quarter; one grant will be awarded. Only one
applicant is a current PTA member. Mrs. Greenoway at Burkett submitted an application
for a grant to develop a Maker Space in the library
 Summary of the project – purchase Puzlette, Osmo Genius Kit (math, science and art), Oz
Bot Starter Kit.
 Motion to accept application by Lauren Baughman, 2nd by Candace Lieder – Motion
approved
 Mini Grants will be awarded November, January, March, and May
Bylaws – Lauren Baughman
 First bylaw meeting was held today; another meeting will be held in the future to develop a
draft of the bylaws.


