Title: Speaker: Text: How and When God Works Senior Pastor Prince Guneratnam Ezekiel 22:30 INTRODUCTION: GOD’S METHOD IS A PERSON WHO IS WILLING AND OBEDIENT Ezekiel 22:30 NLT I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one. A “gap” – a vacancy to bring the Good News - the message of healing, deliverance, comfort and peace God is searching. In the past He found o Noah before the flood o Abraham to form a chosen nation o Esther who saved the Jews from being annihilated o Ruth to keep the lineage of a coming Saviour o Mary for Jesus to be born God has His purpose and plan for each one of our lives. He is waiting to do His work through you. WHEN WILL GOD BEGIN TO WORK THROUGH YOU? He never starts when we think we are intelligent enough, capable and self-sufficient and believe we can do without Him. He never starts when we think and believe it is possible. God is looking for a Church, whose people will be His witnesses of His Salvation, Deliverance, Grace and Power. Jesus had other disciples, who preached and performed miracles like the twelve He chose, who became Apostles. Luke 10:1-2, 17-20 NLT 1 The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit. 2 These were his instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. 17 When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” 18 “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! 19 Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. 20 But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.” In the New Testament Church Acts 6:7 NLT So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too. There were people like: 1. Stephen “Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people.” (Acts 6:8 NLT) 2. Tabitha “There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor.” (Acts 9:36 NLT) 3. There was Agabus, a prophet of God who prophesied what would happen to Paul if he went to Jerusalem (Acts 21:10-12) 4. The daughters of Philip, the Evangelist who were prophetess (Acts 21:1-8) WHEN DOES GOD BEGIN TO WORK? When we say, it is not enough o The feeding of the 5,000 John 6:7 NLT Philip replied, “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!” ( God wants you to come to Him, when it is not enough. o The widow at Zarephath 1 Kings 17:12 NLT But she said, “I swear by the LORD your God that I don’t have a single piece of bread in the house. And I have only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug. I was just gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then my son and I will die.” When we say “It can’t be done” o Gideon and the Midianites (Judges 7) Judges 7:7 NLT The Lord told Gideon, “With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home.” Gideon had 32,000 men and was confident to fight. God reduced it to 10,000 and Gideon felt it was possible. Then God reduced it to 300 and Gideon said, “He cannot win the battle”. God said, “I was waiting for my moment to get to work”. o Samson (Judges 15) A jawbone of a donkey, it can’t be done. Judges 15:15 NLT Then he found the jawbone of a recently killed donkey. He picked it up and killed 1,000 Philistines with it. o David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17) A sling and a stone, it can’t be done. 1 Samuel 17:50 NLT “So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword.” When we say, it is too late o The raising of Lazarus John 11:21 NLT Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.” CONCLUSION God is looking for a person who will let him / her work through them God begins to work when we say, o It is not enough, o It can’t be done o It is too late. Why is this so? Isaiah 42:8 NLT I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols. Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Romans 3:27 NLT Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith.
