Good Morning, Wildwood!
Today is Friday, February 13th and an A day
Afterschool Activities Today:
No activities due to the half day
Throughout Black History Month we will have a little contest to test your knowledge. Twice a
week, we will read a question related to an important person, organization or event that has
contributed to our country’s history. Please write your answer on a piece of scrap paper and
turn it in to Mr. Sharkey before or during lunch. We will draw three names from all of the
correct answers, and announce the names of the three “winners” tomorrow. Those three
students can stop by the Main Office for a surprise!
Yesterday’s Question was: What do the letters “NAACP” stand for, and when was it
founded? The answer: NAACP stands for The National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People, and it was formed in 1909. It is an African-American civil rights organization in
the United States, and Its mission is "to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic
equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination".
We had quite a few submissions, and the following were randomly drawn from the
correct answers: Lalit Trivedi (7th Gr.), Jack Hampton (8th Gr.) and Nathan White (8th Gr.). You
can stop by the office for a surprise!

The Cinderella Project is an awesome organization that collects gently used prom and dance
dresses for girls who aren't able to afford one on their own. The girls are recommended to The
Cinderella Project by their high school counselors. Once recommended they are able to go to
the boutique set up by The Cinderella Project and pick out a beautiful dress and accessories for
their big day. To date Rockwood has come together and donated over 430 dresses. Dresses
will be collected until Feb 26th. Thanks for helping make girls dreams come true!!
