Note to Senators

Welcome back to all students and faculty. Maria recapped about the purpose of Student Senate. Reminder
about importance to bring all information learned at the meetings back to your clubs and organizations.
Unfinished Business/Follow Ups


Tim McNulty delivered information from the Department of Transportation about construction to come to
the Mason Exit on Highway 41 from February 1st until August 1st. Mason Street will be closed at this time
so be prepared to reroute and anticipate leaving earlier than usual due to side streets begin busier than
usual. An e-mail will be sent out regarding this and there are flyers located at the Welcome Desk, Student
Life, and Security Office.
Also, remember to sign-up for RAVE online to get emergency text messages sent to your cell phones to
stay informed by NWTC security. Go to the NWTC home page and search for NWTC Alert or RAVE to
sign-up.
New business
 Workshops are available to be requested for classes with instructor approval. Some types of workshops
include those about Academic Concerns, Career Support, and Cultural Awareness. These workshops are
highly recommended. Brochures with further information along with scheduled times and contact
information are now available.
 Erika Bradley spoke about the new list of service opportunities that are now available. The list has
opportunities within the next couple of weeks to a few months out.
 Congratulations to Rick Kramer, Student Senate’s new Vice President! Shane will definitely be missed
although we are excited that Jamie has stepped up to the role as President. Good luck Shane on your new
position!
 Changes to organization funding have been made. Historically, club members were able to come to
Student Life before an event to obtain a cash box for club fundraisers. Now, a form must be filled out one
week in advance and submitted to Student Finance. There is a $100 dollar limit for the cash boxes and the
club Treasurer and/or Advisor must be present to collect and return the box. Forms are found on our
NWTC web page by searching for Student Organization Forms > Check Request Form.
 Applications for a new District Ambassador are being accepted at this time. Along with the online
application a request for a resume and a nomination form by a faculty or staff member is also needed. The
position handles campus functions along with state wide functions. To find the application page search for
District Ambassador on our school web page.
Announcements from Executive Board

for the people that came out and rocked it, nice job everybody who donated their time and artistic talent!
 The Spring Events Sign-Up has all been filled.
 There has been a bus route change. The stop that used to be made in front of the Welcome Center has
changed. The current stop is at the BI entrance and in front of the Health Science entrance.
