MOCCASIN BEND (J. Whiting) – Became fractious after being placed in the barriers and lashed out
with its hind legs and was subsequently removed and underwent a Veterinary examination and was
passed fit to start. Commenced to over-race passing the 1200m and was allowed to stride forward to
the lead. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr L. Luciani’s
representative advised that the filly would now be sent for a let up.
VALENTINE MISS (P. Knuckey) – When being steadied in the early stages commenced to over-race.
Carried inwards and brushed passing the 75m.
HERMOSA CORONA (Jarrad Noske) – Lay inwards and brushed another runner passing the 75m.
REMILIO (S. Parnham) – Lay inwards over the final 250m.
General: Apprentice Jarrad Noske (HERMOSA CORONA) was shown a replay of the final 75m in which
his mount shifted inwards making slight contact with VALENTINE MISS (P. Knuckey) and carrying that
filly inwards. Apprentice Noske was reminded of his obligations to make a greater effort to keep his
mounts straight in future.
Plating Change:
BOULDER ROAD – Bar Shoes Off
RACE 2: WESTSPEED HANDICAP – 1000M

the gelding to have a laceration to the off hind cannon bone.
PURE FIRE (Jarrad Noske) – Veered outwards on jumping and bumped.
SAXON PALACE (S. Parnham) – Bumped heavily at the start and was then inconvenienced and lost
ground. Lay inwards near the 200m and again near the 100m.
DARK QUEEN (A. Williams) – Veered outwards on jumping. Lay outwards from the 600m and made
the turn into the straight wide.
COME HOME SOBER (W. Pike) – Kicked by another runner whilst behind the barriers and underwent a
Veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr W. Radford advised that he would experiment with a gear
change to overcome this problem in future.
WINDFIELDS FARM (P. Harvey) – Raced wide on straightening.
DANACOLADA (S. Parnham) – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
IT’S GULLEYGOLD (J. Hill) – Jumped outwards at the start and bumped. Rider reported that the
gelding had a tendency to lay outwards in the middle stages.
MEXICAN MIST (T. Turner) – Crowded and bumped at the start. Steadied from heels and got its head
in the air passing the winning post on the first occasion.
THE BLACK PIG (Jarrad Noske) – Restrained after being crowded and bumped passing the winning
post on the first occasion.
VISCOUNT CAMERON (C. Chatfield) – Crowded at the start.
XAARLINGTON (B. Parnham) – Steadied approaching the winning post on the first occasion.
General: Stewards inquired into the reason for THE BLACK PIG (Jarrad Noske) being crowded and
restrained passing the winning post on the first occasion. It was established that VISCOUNT
CAMERON (C. Chatfield) when overracing was steadied from the heels of XAARLINGTON (B. Parnham)
and rolled inwards bumping THE BLACK PIG which became unbalanced when being restrained. This
incident was deemed to have been caused by the racing manner of VISCOUNT CAMERON (C.
Chatfield).
RACE 4: THE PROFITEER HANDICAP – 1200M
MR BACHELOR (S. Gilchrist) – When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance,
Trainer Mr T. Andrews advised that he had been slightly disappointed at the geldings first up start at
Belmont on 6 September 2008 but in his opinion it had taken benefit from this performance and
displayed natural improvement today.
COMIC HERO (L. Camilleri) – Lay inwards near the 100m. Bumped near the 50m.
HENRY THE PHAROAH (S. Parnham) – Slow into stride and steadied shortly after. Steadied passing
the 1000m. Blocked for clear running from on straightening until near the 200m. Lay inwards passing
the 100m.
MCDANIEL (P. Harvey) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
ROCKY RANGE (P. Carbery) – Steadied from heels passing the 1000m getting its head in the air for
some distance.
ESTIARTE (J. Whiting) – Blocked for clear running between the 400m until passing the 150m and was
then impeded when attempting to take a run near the 125m. Held tight and carried inwards near the
100m.
HAIL HALO (C. Chatfield) – Crowded and eased passing the 125m.
GLENMORE (Jason Brown) – Raced ungenerously passing the 1000m when attempting to be settled.
Continued to over-race through the middle stages. Lay inwards near the 100m and was carried
inwards slightly approaching the 50m.
TROUBLED SMILE (C. Harvey) – Bumped and carried inwards near the 125m.
Plating Change:
MCDANIEL - Near Fore Bar Shoe Off
General: An Inquiry was held into the reasons for TROUBLED SMILE (C. Harvey) and HAIL HALO (C.
Chatfield) being crowded near the 100m. It was established that ESTIATE when taking a marginal run
to the inside of COMIC HERO was obliged to shift inwards away from that gelding and in doing so
caused TROUBLED SMILE to be crowded and bumped with that gelding then shifting inwards causing
HAIL HALO to be crowded and eased. In assessing this incident Stewards took into account that
COMIC HERO lay inwards near the 100m, however Jockey J. Whiting was told that in similar
circumstances he must ensure that he has sufficient racing room before allowing his mount to
improve between runners after being held up in future.

Race 4 Continued
Stewards inquired into the reason for ROCKY RANGE (P. Carbery) being steadied passing the 1000m
getting its head in the air. Jockey Carbery explained that ROCKY RANGE had been over-racing prior
to the 1000m and when the pace eased slightly his mount continued to race keenly and was steadied
from the heels of GLENMORE (Jason Brown) and was taken outwards for a short distance. Jockey J.
Brown was reminded of his obligations to allow his mounts to stride forward to prevent field
compaction in future. Approaching the 800m COMIC HERO (L. Camilleri) was taken outwards and was
steadied by its rider causing GLENMORE, which was over-racing, to be steadied from that gelding’s
heels. Jockey Camilleri was shown a replay of this section and advised that in similar circumstances
he is to permit his mounts to stride along to prevent other runners being inconvenienced.
RACE 5: RUABON STAKES – 1200M
CASPER COWBOY (W. Pike) – Raced keenly in the early stages.
DOYOUDARE (S. O’Donnell) – Held tight and steadied near the 800m.
KENS DOUBLE (B. Parnham) – Impeded between the 400m and the 300m. Held tight approaching the
200m and was bumped shortly after.
MCBUSTER (T. Ikenushi) – Over-raced getting its head in the air near the 1000m.
MR PRESIDENT (P. King) – Raced wide throughout.
NORTHWATER BOY (L. Camilleri) – When questioned, rider explained that in his opinion the gelding
may not have recovered fully from its first up performance where it finished strongly from the rear of
the field. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr G. Poletti was of
the opinion that the gelding was not suited to racing wide today and also advised that he would
monitor the gelding’s recovery and advise Stewards of any abnormalities. Returned having cast its
near fore plate during running.
RAW METAL (A. Williams) – Held up rounding the home turn until taken outwards leaving the 300m.
When questioned regarding the gelding racing further back in the field today, Trainer Mr D. Harrison
advised that it had raced in small fields at its most recent starts and after commencing well from
favourable barriers had raced prominently whereas today the gelding was able to race in its normal
pattern after drawing wide and this had better suited it.
Trainer Mr G. Poletti was admonished for the sub-standard condition of NORTHWATER BOY’s racing
plates.
RACE 6: BRADSON HANDICAP – 1000M
CAPUCHIN (Jarrad Noske) – Struck the running rail of its own accord and became unbalanced near the
750m. Angled outwards to improve near the 300m and in doing so bumped with another runner.
DIAMOND HIGHWAY (W. Pike) – The gelding was advertised in the race book as having winkers off in
today’s race, however after a submission from Trainer Mr D. Kitchingman permission was granted for
the gelding to race in winkers as usual. Bumped on straightening.
MYTHALO (C. Chatfield) – Raced wide throughout. Bumped on straightening.
STAR ESCORT (S. Altieri) – Slipped at the start.
GIVEN VISION (P. Knuckey) – Bumped and unbalanced near the 300m when commencing to tire.
DEE PICKED (S. O’Donnell) – Bumped and carried wide passing the 500m.
General: Apprentice Jarrad Noske (CAPUCHIN) and Jockey P. Knuckey (GIVEN VISION) were
questioned regarding an incident near the 300m. Apprentice Noske was cautioned for permitting his
mount to shift outwards making contact with GIVEN VISION and was told that a repetition of this style
of riding may result in further action being taken against him.
RACE 7: TRIBULA HANDICAP – 1600M
ZYLVESTER (C. Chatfield) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 7 Continued
REVEREND LOVEJOY (Jarrad Noske) – Over-raced in the middle stages.
CALLER ONE (B. Parnham) – Over-raced in the early stages getting its head in the air near the 1400m.

RACE 8: CRANKY TIKIT HANDICAP – 1600M
PURPLE CHOCOLATE (B. Parnham) – Lay inwards near the 100m.
AMIANAN (B. Parnham) – A post race Veterinary examination of the gelding which tired significantly in
the straight revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr N. Parnham will be contacted to discuss the
gelding’s recovery.
MATADOR (P. Knuckey) – Trainer Mr A. Bazeley will be contacted regarding the gelding’s
disappointing performance.
SCENIC ASSAULT (P. Harvey) – Raced wide throughout.
GILDED VENOM (W. Pike) – When questioned, rider advised that due to the gelding’s wide barrier he
had elected to settle it in the early stages as he did not wish for gelding to be obliged to race four wide
and after steadying to a three wide position behind another runner he was carried back to the rear of
the field when the horse he was following was steadied from the 1300m. He further advised that he
then allowed the gelding to shift to the rail near the 900m from where it received a favourable passage
and when making ground near the 100m was crowded and had to be steadied which had adversely
affected its finishing position.
