So how does the STING Tuning Module work...?
The modern diesel engine relies on many sensors within the engine’s control system e.g. throttle
position sensor, boost sensors, O2 sensors, mass air flow sensor, the signals from which
determine how the diesel engine performs and alters its parameters to suit certain conditions,
like idle, full throttle, heavy load etc. These sensor signals are all collected and processed
thousands of times a second by the vehicle ECU which determines what alterations to make to
the engines systems to keep it running at full efficiency (usually economy and emissions).
Our diesel tuning performance system is a small computer which we connect to the car using
a connection harness (supplied). This harness plugs into the car using original equipment
connectors, the exact same plugs as used on your car. This means we simply have to plug the
STING Diesel Tuning Module into existing connectors already on your vehicle. The computer
then intercepts and alters this fuelling sensor data/signal, and we can tell the ECU what we want
it to do, not what it is programmed to do. More power is delivered throughout the rev range,
but it’s delivered equally by innovative re-mapping of the engine management. This produces
excellent power gains without any flat spots. Turbo boost is not directly effected so there is no
strain on the engine components.
The compression ratio of the diesel engine is far greater than a petrol engine often up to a
ratio of 25:1, (diesel ignites under compression, no spark is needed), so you will find that
within the cylinders more air remains than is needed for combustion alone. This means by
slightly increasing the amount of injection, we are making full use of the cylinder capacity which
dramatically improves both power and torque.
Because the engine is now more efficient, economy is usually improved as you will use less
throttle and gear changes for the same conditions.

Q. Are the Sting Modules easy to install?
A. All the Sting Modules are “plug and play”, using original style
connectors and simply plug in line to your existing wiring harness.
This makes the Sting Modules very easy to install with comprehensive

Q. Will the Sting Module damage my engine?
A. No, fitting the Sting Module will not damage your engine. The Sting
Module is fitted downstream of the computer which manages the
engine, so all the safety functions and error detection systems
remain unchanged. The increase in power gained is within the
general tolerances of the engine design.
