Fabulous Fourth Grade
Eagle Mountain Elementary
September 4, 2015
We have had a spectacular start to the new school year
and are looking forward to sharing this incredible journey
with your children. We hope to see you at our upcoming
Curriculum night on September 10. Fourth grade will be
presenting from 6:30-7:30 in the Library.
READING – establishing a community of readers.
Discussing non-fiction text features/monitoring and
clarifying as we read.
MATH – developing an understanding of prime and
composite numbers, which includes the relationship of
factors and multiples. Ongoing fact fluency.
Please look over the 4th grade information sheet that was
handed out last week. It will be a blue copy and should
be kept in the sheet protector provided in your child’s
binder. Please sign to let us know you have read the
information.
The 4th grade team would like to request one additional
school supply item. We would like each child to bring in
one additional folder with brads to be used as an
additional writing journal for homeroom use.
WRITING – improving our writing by focusing on clear,
small moments and describing events using exact details and
sensory language.
Transportation changes should be made by sending the
homeroom teacher a note or by calling the office.
SOCIAL STUDIES – studying geography. The students are

clear water. (no colored packets, Gatorade, etc.)
learning to utilize geographic tools to collect, analyze, and
interpret a variety of different maps.
SCIENCE - studying the properties of matter. We will
measure the physical properties of matter and determine
how matter is classified, changed, and used.
Lightweight jackets are encouraged as it sometimes gets
a bit chilly in the classrooms with the AC.
Please leave all toys at home. No trading cards will be
allowed during school. Nerf balls are allowed for recess.
