Task Description
You have been employed by the Western Australian State Government
Historical Department to research one of three great explorers of the late
1400s and provide details about their lives, careers and journeys as they
explored the world.
You must choose one of the following explorers:
• Christopher Columbus
• Vasco da Gama
• John Cabot
You are required to research, using a variety of websites and books, to find
answers to the following questions.
1. Provide basic facts about the explorer – Name, age, date of birth,
place of birth, parent’s names, occupation, interests/hobbies
2. What is he famous for?
3. What was his goal for his voyage? Why was he exploring?
4. What was the outcome of the voyage/What did he change?
- Provide a table with positive and negative effects
5. What were the obstacles he faced on his voyage?
6. Was he influenced by others? If yes, how?
7. How long was he away for? Did he ever return?
8. Include photographs/drawings
9. Collect notes on the provided note-taking sheet and create a draft
Present your research in a large poster.
Ensure it is colourful and presented NEATLY!
You must also include a bibliography, which states where you gathered your
