Tel. 01505 874246 www.kilmacolmshow.co.uk 2014 RULES OF COMPETITION Farming Classes 1.All entries must be lodged with the secretary or given to J. Blackwood (Butcher), Kilmacolm, during business hours. 2.Competitors must be able to satisfy the judges and directors of the age of their Exhibits. Age to be reckoned from 1st January. a substance intended to alter the shape or appearance of the vessel, or any animal found to have been unduly distended will be excluded, or having completed before discovery, any prize which may have been awarded will be withheld. 3. Exhibits must have been bona fide in Exhibitors possession from 1st May, 2014. 7.Brood Mares. No mares to be shown unless in foal or with foal in foot, or has had a foal this season, arrived at full period of gestation. 4.No animal which has won first place in a class for a challenge trophy, which has to be won each year by a different animal will be allowed to compete again in that class. 8.Bulls. Except one year olds, must be secured by a ring with rope attached. 5.No animals to be shown in more than one numbered class (Clydesdales excepted). 9.Protests must be made in writing and lodged with the secretary half-an-hour after judging of class with a deposit of £5. If sustained, the deposit will be returned, but if not sustained, will be forfeited. 6.Doctoring or Blistering Cows and Bottling Bulls is to be prohibited. Any cow found to have been blistered, punctured or dressed with 10.All questions of dispute will be referred to the Stewards or, if necessary, to a quorum of Directors, whose decision will be final. Light Horse Classes 1.Entries lodged by Friday 2nd May 2014 will be charged the entry fees stated within the 2014 schedule. Entries will be accepted after this date, including on the day, but will be charged DOUBLE. This does not apply to Team Jumping and Clear Round Jumping Classes which should be entered on the day. 2.All trophies remain the property of the Society and must be returned by the 1st May 2015 unless stated otherwise. 3.Extraordinary decisions and exceptions to the rules are at the discretion of the Judges, Conveners and Secretary. 4.The Committee reserve the right to refuse acceptance of entries. 5.Entry money will not be refunded unless the request is received at least 72 hours before the show date. 6.In the event of the show being cancelled, no refunds will be given. 7.All ponies/horses attending the show must have a valid passport which must be brought to the show in order to comply with Government regulations. 8.All competitiors should have their own insurance, including third party liability and personal accident cover. 9.Organisers and landowners will not hold themselves responsible for any accident or injury to any person, animal or property whatsoever or however caused. It shall be deemed a condition of entry to the showground that each entrant shall agree to indemnify the promoters against any legal action from any such incident. 10. All ridden horses and ponies must be 4 years and over. 11.The following behaviours will result in elimination from class/ show, without refund of entry fees: ill-treatment of a horse or pony; irresponsible/dangerous behaviour, handling or riding; inappropriate/over-use of a whip; any behaviour which is not in accordance with the Rules of Competition or general etiquette. 12. All horses and ponies must be in acceptable condition. 13. All mounted riders must wear their numbers at all times. 14. All cross country competitors must wear body protectors and must NOT wear fixed peak hats. 15. All mounted riders must wear protective head gear which fits correctly, is correctly fastened at all times, is solid and unbroken, and must conform to current standards: PAS 015:1998, 2010 or 2011, EN 1384:1996, BS EN 1384:1997, with the BSI Kitemark; AS/ NZS 3838 1998 or 2003; and CE and E2001 and the official Snell number. Official Stewards/Organisers may eliminate a competitor riding at the show without a hat or with the chinstrap unfastened or with a hat that does not comply with these standards. 16.The Committee reserve the right to substitute other judges for those named. 17. Judges’ decisions are final. 18.All horses/ponies competing in classes where stated height is required may be measured in their shoes by the Society’s Veterinary Surgeon at any time during the Show and his decision, with that of the Judge, shall be final. 19.Horses/ponies during the time of measuring must be under the control of the Measurer or Stewards, at the discretion of the Judge or Convener. 20.Age restrictions for riders and horses/ponies: ages stated are as at date of Show. 21.No galloping/cantering on the showground except in rings/on courses. 22. Horses/ponies must not be left tied up and unattended. 23.Towing within show ground and car park is at owner’s risk. 24.All parking is controlled by Show Stewards and their instructions must be strictly followed. 25.Protests. Any objection which may arise must be made to the Steward in the judging ring immediately and lodged in writing with the Secretary within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the class accompanied by a deposit of £5. If upheld, the deposit is returned, but if not upheld, will be forfeited. 26.Any complaints about the behaviour of a competitor should be made to the Light Horse Secretary/Convener immediately; the competitor’s name/entry number must be known in order to investigate the complaint.
