unknown and craving for a different path of spirituality &

One Life or More
written by Susan Hannah
Some of us believe we are born into this life, do the best we can when we’re here, and then die.
What if that’s not all there is to the story? What if the mystics are correct and we are eternal beings
going from one life to another?
There are many accounts of young children describing homes, communities, and pieces of
equipment that they are too young to know. Most of us have had a déjà vu moment at one time or
another. If time is truly not linear as the mystics suggest then perhaps it is possible to retain knowledge
from another time and place.
Let’s suppose we are citizens of the eternal, as Reverend Michael Beckwith suggests. What would
that mean? If every encounter on planet earth was a dynamic to teach rather than punish, who would we
be? How would we see ourselves? Our perspective of ourselves could be forever changed.
If we knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that we were truly spiritual beings learning lessons and
finding balance, perhaps our view of life would be less harsh. Maybe in taking a variety of roles of
accuser and accused we could find a different level of compassion. If we had lives all over the world as
both genders and many lifestyles, could we still be so certain of what is good and bad?
There is a great support for the belief that everything within us and around us is energy. We
know from physics that even matter is made of energy and that energy is neither created nor destroyed.
Is it not possible that we are part of the universe in a very special and unique way?
If we are citizens of the eternal with all of us being a beautiful and unique color of the spectrum,
then how sad is it when we forget to honor who we and others really are? When we feel dejected and lost
and believe our one life determines us, then we are missing out on all that is possible. We have many
opportunities for love, connection, friendship, success and hope. I want to see the best in life. For me, I
choose to believe the mystics are right.
