T he S we dish No rth Af rican Chamber Of Commerce ”Bringing the Swedish & North African Business Communities together” What What is Swenacc? is Swenacc? The Swedish North African Chamber of Commerce, SWENACC, is a non-profit membership organisation that was established in Stockholm in 2012 with the aim to facilitate and empower two-way trade and investments between Sweden and North Africa. The initiative to create SWENACC was taken by two members of the North African diaspora in Sweden in response to recent developments in North Africa. The new situation there has opened up further opportunities for Sweden to capture the growing business opportunities in an expansive market and for North Africa to diversify its exports to lucrative markets, such as Sweden. Thus economic complementarities, geographical proximity and mutual interests on both sides hold promises of establishing a sustainable win-win trade partnership. Against this background SWENACC, and with the support of its members as well as its business, government and institutional partners, seeks to achieve its vision: “to be the premier network for the Swedish & North African business communities and contribute to the development of a new dynamic, long term trade partnership between Sweden and Northern Africa”. SWENACC is led by a Board of Directors consisting of 15 elected members, with in-depth knowledge of the North African & Swedish markets, including representatives from renowned companies such as Volvo AB, Ericsson and NASDAQ OMX. To facilitate the work of the Board, two committees have been established: the Executive and the North African Committee. The Board of Directors and the Executive Committee are led by the Chairman, Mathias Mossberg a former career Swedish Ambassador who has served in the MENA region, and supported by the General Secretary, Yacine Slamti who is the initiator of the SWENACC and has played a key role in the establishment of the Swedish Trade Council (now called Business Sweden) in the Maghreb. The North African Committee is composed of leading persons from the North African diaspora living in Sweden, one per North African country, and plays a strategic bridgebuilding role to help establishing viable high level networks and a fruitful exchange of experiences, information and expertise. SWENACC is primarily funded by annual membership dues and income from services provided to members, governmental entities and other organisations/institutions.
