! r e t t le s w e N m r e Autumn T Issue 40 2015 Perform with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Young string players invited to join the professionals The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra are coming to town and are inviting over 100 young string players to join them including Gloucester Academy of Music's Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Advanced Strings groups. Together they will rehearse and perform Fiddler’s Hill by Jeff Moore. Jeff’s work brings string players together and is designed to be performed by string players from beginner to professional. All GAM Strings players of grade 1 standard and above will be invited so please keep your diaries free for the 18th and 19th February 2016. The two day workshop will culminate in a performance at Cheltenham Town Hall. Thank you! Thank you to everyone who supported Shulah Oliver's cake stall in aid of Guide Dogs. £34.00 was raised from cake sales which brings the total amount that Shulah has raised to nearly £47000. Shulah’s target is £50 000 by the end of the year! Well done Shulah! 2016 MUSIC HOLIDAY COURSES from Gloucester Academy of Music The dates of our 2016 Music Holiday Courses are now available. Performance Platforms Our Performance Platforms this term will be held on Saturday 17th October and Saturday 28th November at 1.30pm. They are the ideal opportunity to gain performance practice in an informal and friendly setting. Gloucester Academy of Music Students to Welcome Birmingham Conservatoire’s Head of Recorder Gloucester Academy of Music Students will have the opportunity this term to meet the Head of Recorder from Birmingham Conservatoire. Annabel Knight will be visiting GAM and giving short performances to our students. She is also hoping to start a Recorder group here in Gloucester. A nnabel has established a successful performing and teaching career as a recorder player and historical flautist, which has taken her across the UK, Europe and America. She has given recitals at the Wigmore Hall and South Bank and many radio broadcasts and CD recordings notably with Passacaglia, and the recorder quintet Fontanella. We are very excited to be welcoming her to Gloucester.
