The c o n s o l i d a t e d statement of c o n d i t i o n of the F e d e r a l r e s e r v e "banks on
October 30, made p u b l i c by the Federal Reserve Board, shows i n c r e a s e s f o r the
week of $194,700,000 i n h o l d i n g s of d i s c o u n t e d b i l l s and of ^157,000,000 in
Government s e c u r i t i e s , and a decrease of $39,500,000 i n b i l l s bought i n opeft
market. Member bank r e s e r v e d e p o s i t s i n c r e a s e d $273,500,000, Government d e p o s i t s
$3,100,000 and F e d e r a l r e s e r v e note c i r c u l a t i o n $22,900,000, while cash r e s e r v e s
d e c l i n e d $12,300,000. Total b i l l s and s e c u r i t i e s wore $312,100,000 above the
amount r e p o r t e d a week ago.
Holdings of discounted b i l l s i n c r e a s e d $139,000,000 a t the F e d e r a l Reserve
Bank of Bow York, $32,000,000 a t Cleveland, $25,000,000 a t P h i l a d e l p h i a and
$12,^00,000 a t Chicago, and declined $10,800,000 a t San F r a n c i s c o , $9,^00,000 a t
Boston and $6,200,000 a t Minneapolis. The System's h o l d i n g s of b i l l s bought i n
open market d e c l i n e d £>39,500,000, while h o l d i n g s of U. S. bonds i n c r e a s e d
$^3,300,000, of U. S. Treasury n o t e s $48,900,000 and of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s
$64,800,000.
