Cell Phone Policy - Springs Girls` High School

SPRINGS GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL
CELLULAR TELEPHONE REGULATIONS
Cellular telephones (cell phones) are not permitted at Springs Girls’ High School - like many other
schools - for the following reasons:
•
•
•
disruptions caused by cell phones ringing during class;
theft; and,
possibility of examination irregularities.
Many learners continue to bring their cell phones to school.
Cell phones found at school will be treated as follows:
•
•
•
•
If a cell phone rings, or a message is received during class, the cell phone will be
confiscated for a period of two weeks (Fourteen days) and retained in the school safe.

Second offenders will be charged R20 (twenty rand) for the return of the cell
phone after a period of seven days.

Third and subsequent offenders will have their phones returned only to their
parents, in person.
If a cell phone is stolen, the staff will not search any learner. Learners must take
responsibility for their possessions.
Where a learner must bring a cell phone to school she is advised to hand in her cell phone
at the office.
During examinations, learners will be required to hand in their cell phones - in a labelled
wrapper - to an invigilator, and sign a register. The cell phone will be returned at the end
of the examination. Any learner found in possession of a cell phone during a test or an
examination will be deemed to be guilty of an examination irregularity and given zero for
the test or examination.
We have read the cell phone regulations and agree to abide by them.
