Transformaons Day 3: Rotaons
Objecves:
1. You will be able to draw and apply rotaons on the coordinate plane.
Rotaons are direconal : Clockwise and Counterclockwise
Center of Rotaon : the fixed point about which an object turns
(On a graph this is most commonly the origin.)
Rotaon 90 degrees : (x,y) ⇒ (‐y, x)
Rotaon 180 degrees : (x,y) ⇒ (‐x, ‐y)
Rotaon 270 degrees : (x,y) ⇒ (y, ‐x)

Example 1:
Complete each indicated rotaon. Use the coordinate rules and then graph.
a) Rotate the figure 90° about the origin.
b) Rotate the figure 180°.
c) Rotate the figure 90° clockwise about the origin.
