setsinanamazingtournamentwithamazingbombsoverthe400yardmark.Thefourthtournamentof
theseasonwasheldforthefirsttimeinAustriaattheDiamondCountryClub(aEuropeanTour
Destination).

Austriahostedforthefirsttimeoneofthechampionshipsonthetour.Theweatherconditionswere
perfectforhittinglongballs:hottemperaturesearlyinthemorningandafantasticbackwind.Wesawa
lotoflongballsover400yduringtheday.ThelongestballofthedaysponsoredbyWilliamsRacing
Golfwas440yardsachievedbyTeemuPitkänen(FIN).
InAtzenbrugg,thehittersweredrawnintofourgroupsandplayedthreeroundseachforseeding.Inthe
firstgroup,thebestwasthe“GermanBomber”TimoPetraschmakinganexcellentperformancewitha
bestresultof410y.Thebestresultdeterminedthegamesinthe1/8sotherestoftheplayersthat
advancedwereTanguyMarionex(407y),HansSchmid(348y)andThomasBrunner(252y).Ingroup2,
wehaveseenexperiencedplayerslikeMauroBenaglio(CH).ThebestplayerwasBobdeBoef(NL)with
agreathitof407y.Benaglio(406y),DavidHopf(405y)andVictorienChanet(382y)alsoadvancedto
matchplayrounds.
