A number of the measures within the ASCOF suite draw on data from the Short and Long Term (SALT) collection. This document illustrates the sources for ASCOF data within SALT. It covers all ASCOF measures that take data from SALT and shows the data sources broken down between (where applicable) the numerator and denominator. In order to aid identification of the data utilised in the ASCOF measures, annotated copies of the tables from SALT are provided as per the example below: Figure 1: Example SALT table How to interpret the annotated tables 1. The cells highlighted in pink or dark blue are those that contain data used in. 2. In some instances, a copy of a SALT table may cover two tables as they are identical apart from covering different age bands. In the example above (figure 1) both tables 1a (for ages 18 to 64) and 1b (for age 65 and over) are relevant. This is confirmed in the title of the annotated table shown above. 3. Highlighted cells contain text confirming which ASCOF measure it refers to. In the above example, the data is used in ASCOF measure 1C part 1a. Measure numbers are always capitalised; constituent parts of measures are in lower case. 4. It is the sum total of the contents of all cells that contribute to the ASCOF measure. 5. Numerator data are highlighted in pink with black text and denominator data are highlighted in dark blue with white text. This distinction is also clear from the headings within the document. Colours used in data cells in SALT tables in this document: 1C part 2a ASCOF numerator 1C part 2a ASCOF denominator Voluntary cells for 2015-16 Totals automatically calculated from other cells in the table In STS002a and STS002b, these cells contain the long term support sequels that should be reported in table 4 but do not contain any text 4 Copyright © 2016, Health and Social Care Information Centre.
