Sample Presentation Guide
We realize most people are not comfortable with public speaking. To help ease your nerves and make this
a pleasant experience, we’re prepared this simple guide to help you prepare the presentation portion of
your home party event. Friends of Chimbote has a story to share, but remember, your friends and family are
coming to hear about your connection with our organization. Your relationship, your experiences and your
passion for the mission are what inspire new donors to support Friends of Chimbote. Keep it simple and
speak from your heart.
The following is an example of how you might share your story:
Welcome and thank you for accepting our invitation.
Our reason for hosting this party is two-fold:
1)We feel blessed to have such a wonderful group of people as part of our circle of friends and we enjoy spending time with you.
2)Secondly, there’s another circle of people that have also become very important to us and we thought we might be able make a connection between these two circles.
We/I’ve been involved with the Friends of Chimbote organization for XX years. Friends of Chimbote is a
faith-based organization dedicated to improving and transforming the lives of the poor of Chimbote, Peru.
The programs and services at the mission are focused on four core competencies: education, medical care,
social protection and life transformation. To help you learn more, we have a gift of bookmarks and a DVD
that you may take with you. You can also visit the website to see photos, videos, stories, blogs and more.
Share short history of relationship with the organization, including current relationship, trips to
Chimbote, etc.
This mission – which began as Father Jack’s Mission – has become a passion for us. We believe in it, we
support it and we are sharing it with you tonight because it is a big part of our lives, and as our friends, we
wanted to give you the opportunity to have this incredible experience become part of your lives too. If the
Friends of Chimbote Mission makes a connection with you, that’s great. If not, that’s OK too and now you
just know more about an organization that’s near and dear to our hearts just like all of you are.
