It is your choice. You can either do nothing and let all these practices continue or you can campaign.
We hope you choose the latter.
Dear
‘Keeping gambling fair and safe for all’
I’ve just read an excellent piece about modern off-course bookmaking practices (see:
https://www.bettingexpert.com/blog/10-things-bookmakers-do).
What this article contains is a scandal. To my knowledge it is all true and I do know others who have
proof of all these practices happening.
Some could be deemed common business practice, some certainly break EU and UK guidelines on
privacy and it is fair to argue that some are illegal under EU law.
I’m also aware that other people have pointed out some of these practices to you on a regular basis,
but you choose to do nothing about it. This contravenes the main strap-line on your website
‘Keeping gambling fair and safe for all’.
I’m sad to call it a strap-line as it is claimed to be an aim, but how can it be a true aim if you ignore
all the people that contact you about unfair and possibly illegal trading by the companies you licence
and regulate.
I look forward to your response, hoping it does highlight future action to be taken to make
‘Gambling fair and safe for all’, because it certainly isn’t at present under your watch.
If your response suggests you will do nothing I will be taking it up with my local MP in order to point
out a replacement for the UK Gambling Commission is needed urgently.
Yours sincerely,
Your name
