Character Breakdown and Analysis Dorothy Gale Toto - the dog Dorothy lives on a farm in Kansas with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. She is energetic and loves her dog, Toto. Dorothy is very likeable, strong and caring. Aunt Em Dorothy's aunt. She is worn down by living on the farm in Kansas and is very serious. She cares very deeply but doesn't understand Dororthy's energy! Uncle Henry Hickory Hunk Zeke Dorothy's uncle. Farmer - honest, hardworking. He also cares about Dorothy. Uncle Henry is very likeable. Farmhand Farmhand Farmhand Miss Almira Gulch Miss Gulch is a socialite, very stuck up and bitter. She uses her status in the community to get her way. She has targeted Dorothy's dog Toto for her wrath. Professor Chester Marvel/ Wizard of Oz Likeable fortune teller who Dorothy meets when she runs away. He is also the Wizard of Oz in Act 2! A bit of a scoundrel, he is likeable and a strong presence. Flexible - remember he has no bones! Dance role - crows are the enemy of the Scarecrow. Tinman Trees The Tinman is rescued by Dorothy and wants nothing more than to get a heart! The Tinman used to be a real man, but the Wicked Witch changed him. Very loveable and caring. The Tinman is very rigid - he's made of tin!!!! Scary trees in the forest Lion The Lion is the last of the new friends of Dorothy. He wants courage! The Lion is very funny, but like all the friends is loveable. Bigger than life!
